What’s Going on Behind the Russia, South Korea,Ukraine, China, US Travel Bans?

Russia directed their citizens on December 11 that they should not be visiting the United States in coming weeks.

Reuters reported “that relations with  Washington were so confrontational that Russian citizens should not  visit the United States, Canada and some EU countries in coming weeks  because they risked being “hunted” down by U.S. authorities.
Russian  and U.S. diplomats say the relationship is worse than at any time since  the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, when the two Cold War superpowers came  closest to intentional nuclear war, due to a confrontation over the  Ukraine war.”

RNB News suggests this signifies “escalating tensions or a strategic move in international diplomacy. It’s crucial to observe how both countries respond to maintain or adjust their relations. Given the current geopolitical climate, every move is under scrutiny.”

US, Russia, China, Ukraine, South Korea

Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, cautioned that Russians could find themselves in dangerous situations due to escalating tensions with the US.

“In the context of the increasing confrontation in Russian-American relations, which are teetering on the verge of rupture due to the fault of Washington, trips to the United States of America privately or out of official necessity are fraught with serious risks,” Zakharova said.

In November, South Korea imposed a Level 4 (their highest) travel ban to the Kursk region in Russia amid intensifying clashes between Ukrainian forces and Russian-North Korean troops there.

The day after the South Korean ban, on Russian state television, President Vladimir Putin confirmed that Moscow had used a “new” intermediate-range ballistic Oreshnik missile, capable of attacking targets at a speed of “2.5-3 km per second”.

“We believe that we have the right to use our weapons against military facilities of the countries that allow to use their weapons against our facilities,” Putin said at the time.

Putin also offered a warning to the West, saying that Moscow was “ready for any developments”, adding that their strike was carried out in response to Ukraine’s use of “American and British long-range weaponry”.

On Dec. 6, Russian military General Valery Gerasimov spoke with General Charles Brown, the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, about how the Oreshnik ballistic missile launch had been planned long before Washington agreed to allow Ukraine to use American ATACMS to strike deeper into Russia.

  1. This U.S. government may be a trainwreck at the present, but it’s not like any of the mentioned countries have done anything to help matters. They’ve been getting away with just about anything they can in the face of our weakness. And NOW they are worried. They ought to be. Trump is not wasting any time. It’s like your mother saying, “Just wait until your father gets home!”
