Understanding Hell: The Eternal Consequences of Sin

The Bible says, “The Lord is… not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9 KJV)

The Bible says that Hell is not merely a place of separation from God, but a place of everlasting fire and torment. (Matthew 25:41, Matthew 25:46, Revelation 14:11) It is a place “where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.” (Mark 9:48)

The sad reality is that Hell was never prepared for man. It was “prepared for the devil and his angels.” (Matthew 25:41)

Then why do those who die without Christ end up there?

The answer is sin.

“For the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23)

This is more than physical death, for the same verse goes on to speak of “the gift of God,” which is “eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

In His mercy, God has placed roadblocks in your life to keep you from that place called Hell. Creation declares His glory. His commandments are written in the heart. Conscience bears witness. The preaching of the cross points sinners to Christ. The prayers and cries of God’s people continue to go up before Him.

Why?

Because God is not willing that any should perish.

He has made every provision for your salvation through the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Don’t ignore the roadblocks.

Stop. Consider. Believe the Gospel.
