How John Cornyn Has Become the Texas’ RINO Senator

Visiting Ukraine

I will never forget in January 2021, Texas Senator John Cornyn sent me a letter explaining his stance on not supporting Trump in the 2020 election fraud and the January 6th Capitol protest.

Based on my inquiry, he responded:“This stunning display of disrespect for the law is un-American, and those that attacked the Capitol should face the full extent of the law…This assault did not succeed in deterring or intimidating Congress, and we ultimately reconvened and certified the vote of the Electoral College…”

His actions and response verified the growing concerns I had about Cornyn–a man I had previously supported and voted for many years.

It was during the 2022 Republican Party of Texas convention that the long time senator was condemned for his work and support of gun control legislation.

That year, Cornyn turned against the will of his constituents to help Democrats pass what they called the “Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.”

The law was condemned by independents and conservatives for incentivizing states to impose “red flag” laws which deny law-abiding citizens their right to purchase firearms despite the US Constitution’s due process protections.

Cornyn, who doubled down on his support for “compromise” gun control legislation by helping move it through the Senate, had to delay his opening comments as delegates booed him taking the stage.

He appeared quite stunned by their response, clearly not expecting grassroots delegates to disagree with what he had been pushing in Washington with the Democrats.

A poll of the 2,700 Republican delegates found that 67 percent disapproved of Cornyn. Only 16 percent showed support for the senior senator.

The party’s Platform Committee went so far as rebuking Cornyn’s work with the Democrats gun control resolution.

Other GOP senators who aided Democrats on the issue included Thom Tillis (R-N.C.). Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), Bill Cassidy (R-La.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Mitt Romney (R-Utah), and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.).

Even Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton spoke about Cornyn after RINO Texas legislatures unsuccessfully attempted to impeach him last year.

“Look, everything’s on the table for me,” Paxton stated. “Now that I’ve been through this, and I’ve seen how guys like John Cornyn have represented the state of Texas and not represented us, I think it’s time somebody needs to step up and run against this guy that will do the job and do it the right way.”

Paxton revealed Cornyn also helped Democrats in their attempt to reduce penalties for illegal voting.

“They tried to sneak through legislation two years ago, where they were reducing the penalty for illegal voting, where I would now have to prove that they knew the law when they did it, which meant no prosecutions,” Paxton continued. “We caught them. We exposed it.”

A growing consensus among Texans is that Cornyn has been neglecting the issue of immigration along the border as the senator dedicated his attention to the war between Ukraine and Russia.

Paxton charged Cornyn of being more concerned with national politics and staying in favor in Washington than in pursuing the interests of his home state.

“I wonder to myself, like, what would he point to that he’s done for our state?” Paxton said.

Cornyn, until Trump won the New Hampshire primary, had been a holdout along with Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Senate Republican Whip John Thune (S.D.).

He finally wrote on X, “I have seen enough. To beat Biden, Republicans need to unite around a single candidate, and it’s clear that President Trump is Republican voters’ choice.”

Since the 2020 Election and January 6, Capitol protest in Washington DC, Cornyn has noticeably and progressively sided with Democrats and RINOS against his constituents.

🔹Cornyn was one of the first Senators to side against President Trump’s concerns of voter fraud during the 2020 elections and the January 6, 2020 US Capitol breach.

🔹A growing number of Texans are calling out Cornyn as being “RINO-ish” along the lines of Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney.

🔹After the 2020 election, President Trump called Cornyn out the following January after the Senator said he would vote to certify Joe Biden’s victory as Congress reviews the Electoral College.

  1. The GOP is 90% RINO. Time to look to another political party, like the Constitution Party. This election will be the last time I vote for any Republican and I’m not convinced Trump can or will do what is necessary to get our nation back on track. The Democrats will make it difficult like they did in his first term and the feckless Republican will do nothing just like they did in his first term. The economy is about to crash and the Democrats will place the blame entirely on Trump. Insurrection and rebellion will soon be our only remaining option to preserve our dying Republic, unfortunately the majority are too cowardly to take that route.

    • Yes, some are cowardly, but some remain ignorant or obedient to the status quo. After 2020 (election fraud, lawfare, immigration, COVID hoax) I’m perplexed why so many remain glued to the propaganda, indoctrination & social engineering. We now reach 2 million readers, but that is a small dent. Not sure what to do except keep on doing.

  2. Guess who is postering himself to replace 🐢 McConnell as the next Republican Leader of the Senate?

    😣

When Cornyn is not RINO-ing around as the Texas embarrassment he is, you can likely find him introducing crucial bills like authorizing the Treasury to mint various commemorative coins. You might even see him in a photo op with a shovel or scissors in-hand for a ground-breaking or ribbon-cutting ceremony. As you have, Jack, I have followed his actions over the course of about 10 years and attribute his continued reelection to low-information voters swayed by name recognition.

With a home in liberal Austin, his RINO leanings are becoming increasingly aligned with his current residence.

  3. Yes, that was very well said! We’ve got people from New Hampshire who are similar in type: Maggie Hassan, Jean Shaheen, Annie Kuster, and Kelley Ayotte, all needing the boot. These people have done so much damage here and in D.C. and it takes that grinding persistence in continuing work in our spheres to get light on it. Often, it’s like you are digging in a really dark tunnel. But it’s working, bit by bit, year after year.
