How to Beat Marxist Liberals With the Overton Window

Is the tide beginning to turn against the left? Even if so, there is still much more work to be done to save our freedoms.

It is critical to understand and share about the most important tool that the leftists and globalists use to manipulate public perceptions and opinions.  This tool is the Overton Window, and once it is fully understood, it can be a powerful tool to use against those who mislead.

🔹First created by Joseph Overton, a former senior Vice President of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, the Overton window is a mechanism used by political elite to determine the viability of a movement or idea.

🔹If something is within “the window,” it is seen as a “normal” or “respectable” position or belief that a citizen is allowed to possess.

🔹If a belief or movement is placed on the outside of the window, it is deemed “extreme,” “outlandish,” or “foolish” by the powers that be.

🔹This is an incredibly effective tool that can be used to control an entire population because it only requires a powerful individual or small group of individuals to first decide what is acceptable or extreme, and then use the government, religious institutions, and the media to push ideas that are deemed “acceptable.”

🔹It is especially potent because this “window” is never fixed in one place, meaning that it can be moved in any direction based on both external factors and the user’s beliefs.

The Overton Window in Action

The issue only became “popular” after a few court cases and favorable media attention.

A great example of the Overton Window in action can be seen in the Gay, Lesbian, Transsexual, Bi-Sexual, or Pan-Unicorn rights movement.  In the 1990s, and even in George W. Bush’s second term over a decade ago, this movement had very little political power behind it.

Even with the heavy artillery provided by Hollywood elites, and leftist strongholds like Massachusetts and California, most Americans were either apathetic or opposed to gay marriage and the gay lobby itself was never able to portray themselves as a mainstream part of American society.

This all changed in 2008 with California’s Proposition 8, a ballot referendum where a majority of the Californians voted in favor of defining a marriage as between a man and a woman.

Even though the gay lobby lost the popular vote, they were able to overturn the will of the people by appealing the vote and ensuring that the case ended up in the hands of a leftist judge.  Their legal victory over Proposition 8 signaled a shift in the window, in which homosexuality and other similar identities were now mainstream, and any criticism of them was now “bigoted” or “extreme.”

Because of this, we have now seen stories of:

🔹executives being fired from their jobs for believing in traditional marriage.

🔹businesses being boycotted and banned from cities because they wouldn’t bow to the gay lobby.

🔹Christian bakers being fined six figures and slapped with a gag order because they refused to bake a cake for a gay couple.

Such a change would not have been possible without moving the Overton window in a direction favored by Marxist Liberals.

How we can manipulate the Overton Window

They are pushing the unacceptable to be accepted: pedophile, males in female sports competition, men in women’s restrooms, socialism, etc.

The political elite hates it when someone like Trump turns the window back on them.

Just because these politicians and social engineers have enjoyed success in using the Overton Window, this doesn’t mean that their enemies can’t use it as well.

🔹One notable example of the potential that shifting the Overton window would create, can be seen with Donald Trump’s run for President.  Before Trump announced his candidacy, the race was going to look very much like a repeat from 2012, where a Republican and Democratic candidate that were both anointed by the media and the political class would pretend to have major disagreements over policy and ideology, but would really disagree over one or two minor issues.

🔹This all changed when Trump declared his candidacy, at roughly the exact same time that news surrounding the shooting death of Kate Steinle at the hands of an illegal immigrant began to circulate.

Trump made illegal immigration and border security his primary issue and followed up with a variety of pro-America First within the popularity of the Overton Window boundaries.  Soon his candidacy garnered widespread support amongst a wide cross-section of the American public.

Trump’s presidency itself was solid evidence of America’s ability to move the window in direction of the will of the people rather than the will of elite propagandists and corruption.

Trump’s focus on America First MAGA issues resulted in the window being moved further to the right than it has been in decades.  Even a decade ago, a modern border wall and a ban on migrants from countries compromised by terrorists would’ve been unheard of. Trump made these proposals mainstream.

How did the elite media deal with this? They fought every step of the way. Just do a social media search on “Trump immigration” to their vile propaganda.

Understanding and using the Overton Window is critical for patriotic freedom loving America to shift public opinion away from being woke, critical race theory, believing the sea is rising or even the next tragedy of the season (new ice age, or global temperatures increasing, or climate change or the sky is falling).

Americans must not allow politicians, government, media or foreign nations to control the Overton Window in regards to our rights, freedoms and values. Such efforts include our free speech battles with Facebook, culture war with campus radicals, and exposés concerning Hillary’s, Obama’s, or the Biden Crime Family’s dirty secrets.

We must destroy the ratings of mainstream media, cable news, social engineered television programming and Hollywood propaganda by shifting the window further in the direction for Americans freedoms and rights first.

Here is another classic example of how politicians try to move the “Overton Window” to favor their benefit or stance on an issue.

🔹In 2010, Texas Governor Rick Perry decided three large freeways needed to be turned into toll roads to bring in more tax revenue.

🔹This idea was totally outside the comfort levels of Texans “Overton Window.”

🔹Perry’s allies decided that instead of putting forth legislation to turn those freeways into toll roads, the narrative went out by mainstream media that private companies from other countries would operate the toll roads.

🔹Predictably, citizens response was not only, “NO, HELL NO!” but “How dare you let a foreign company put a toll on an American.”

🔹Media narrative and propaganda went into full mode to bring the idea safely into the Overton Window realm of possibilities: “If anyone is going to charge a toll on Texas soil, it dang sure better be someone from the Lone Star State…at the very least an American.”

The window moved from something unacceptable to what the gullible public deemed a reasonable option.

Cha-Ching! $$$

Have you driven through metropolitan Austin lately? Proudly, the community boasts a motto of “Keep Austin Weird.” Their window is farther left than practically the rest of Texas and most of the US.

  1. The Overton Window of Political Possibility Explained

They show views about Gun Rights becoming more accepted, i.e. more Rights to own. It looks objective, or Conservative, and seems well received in the comments concerning objectivity.

It’s a supplement to the well written article on your Blog today, this was a concept I was unfamiliar with.

  2. I’ve always known that manipulating us toward their crazy, Godless thinking was what they were doing, and I think being aware of that keeps you thinking and researching for yourself. I remember when Gene Robinson came to our church (remember him, the Episcopal gay bishop?) on his tour to convince us this was okay with Holy Writ, I was ready for him. He was taking everything out of context, and I kept putting it back in. You would have loved it. When I finally said that the end object, based on the Gay Manifesto, was to normalize pedophelia, everyone looked shocked, even him. Now look where we are. He didn’t like me very much; he actually lost his cool. I had a very good time.
