Sheriff Deputies Arrest ‘Federal Magistrate,’ Texas Attorney For Human Smuggling

Wearing an orange Corpus Christi Hooks baseball jersey, attorney Timothy D. Japhet was arrested and jailed August 13 near Del Rio, Texas for human trafficking.

Some reports indicate Japhet as an “immigration attorney and federally appointed magistrate. ” He was also cited with resisting arrest.

When Galveston County Constable (working on special assignment in Kinney County) Jimmy Fullen pulled Japhet over in a rental car, he discovered four adult male Mexican nationals with him.

The story Japhet told law enforcement was that when he pulled over off the highway to let his dog out to be relieved, these men told him they were construction workers needing a ride to work in Del Rio.

Fuller initially pulled Japhet over for failing to drive in one lane, but said constable’s deputy recalled Japhet would not turn the car off and said, “I haven’t done anything wrong” when told to exit the vehicle. Border Patrol Agents soon arrived.

“While attempting to place the male in custody he was yelling ‘I’m a Judge, I’m a Judge.’ Once I had the male subject in custody, I advised dispatch the male subject was an elected Judge he corrected me and said ‘No, I am an appointed Judge,’” Fullen wrote in his report.

Japhet claimed he was on his way to Eagle Pass with his dog to gamble at the casino. From Corpus Christi to Eagle Pass, it is unusual to drive through Del Rio enroute to the casino as it adds at least an additional half hour to the trip. Even from San Antonio to Eagle Pass it would be very uncommon to take the out of the way route through Del Rio.

Del Rio is above Ciudad Acuna near Lake Amistad.

Fullen has been working on the border area as part of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star initiative to protect the southern border from the illegal alien invasion perpetrated by the Biden Administration.

Operation Lone Star has successfully made 18,711 criminal arrests through the deployment of state resources including Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers.

Between June 1, 2011, and July 31, 2022, 259,000 illegal aliens were charged with more than 433,000 criminal offenses which included arrests for 800 homicide charges in Texas.

Japhet deemed Operation Lone Star both “unconstitutional” and “political,” suggesting he will wait for a federal grand jury or until his charges are dropped, which he said could occur in 90 days.

Constable Deputy Fullen posted about the arrest on Facebook post, but Japhet told some news organizations that he was not cited for resisting arrest, nor is he a “federally appointed immigration magistrate.”
