Today is a Good Day to Pray for Pastors, Preachers & Leaders

It was a perilous time for Israel. Joshua, God’s replacement for Moses, was assigned to lead the nation into the Promised Land. They had crossed the Jordan River on dry land, just as their forefathers had crossed through the Red Sea.

The wicked nations of Canaan heard of this and were fearful: “their hearts melted and there was no longer any spirit in them” (Joshua 5:1).

After Israel defeated Jericho and Ai, the reputation of Israel and their God spread through the land.

The kings of the lowland country decided to join forces to fight against Joshua and Israel.

The inhabitants of Gibeon did not want to be destroyed like those two cities. They deviously planned a way to secure a peace agreement with Israel. It worked. The treaty was made under false pretenses when Israel did not consult the Lord. Joshua, in making peace with them, agreed to let them live.

Within a short period of time, five kings of the Amorites joined forces against Gibeon, and Israel was called upon to defend them.

Instead of refusing to fight because of the deception of the Gibeonites, Joshua upheld the agreement with integrity. God was with them and gave them the victory.

Integrity is a powerful trait in those who lead any enterprise – be it in business, government, or in church.

Today we pray for pastors and preachers in this nation. We also pray for those holding public office at the federal, state, and local levels.

We ask the Lord to draw their hearts to Him and act with uprightness as they serve people in their respective positions.

We strive to live with integrity ourselves, no matter the circumstances.

  1. Our Pastor gave a great sermon today. He talked about how Christianity has become too hip to attract the young or the hipster unbelievers. Hip pocket preachers with smoke machines and strobe lights. I play in our worship band, but I also prefer the word as it comes from the Bible. I’m cool, but I ain’t stupid.

  2. Straight from the Word, and that’s all you need. Joshua, yep, that is right where we are, and pray for the ones up front to soak in His Word before anything else. Like fog machines. Up here, the churches are so small, or at least of traditional size, that we’ve never even seen one of those things! My pastor mentioned he wanted to get an electric guitar today. What???
