What is President Trump Doing on National Prayer Day?

Today is the National Day of Prayer. Congress established the annual observance by joint resolution in 1952, which President Harry Truman signed, to encourage Americans to turn to God in prayer and meditation.

President Donald Trump’s proclamation for the National Day of Prayer five years ago stated, “Americans reaffirm that prayer guides and strengthens our Nation, and we express, with humility and gratitude, our ‘firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence.‘”

President Trump continued, “As one Nation under God, we share a legacy of faith that sustains and inspires us and a heritage of religious liberty.  Today, we join together and lift up our hearts, remembering the words of 1 John 5:14 that tell us when ‘we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.‘”As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

For President Trump as he seeks to enhance religious freedom protections in the U.S.

For the president and members of his Cabinet as they work to remove discrimination against Christians from department agencies.

For Americans’ hearts to be drawn to the Lord in prayer across the nation.
