AG Paxton Demands Documents From Dallas Area School Districts Proving No Boys Are Competing in Girls’ Sports

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has requested an extensive list of documents from Dallas Independent School District (“ISD”) and Irving ISD to ensure that the districts are not allowing boys to compete in girls’ sports.

The Office of the Attorney General sent letters to the Superintendents of both districts after the office was made aware that officials at Dallas and Irving ISD had given parents alarming recommendations that could potentially reflect an unstated policy of not upholding Texas state law protecting women’s athletics.

Dallas ISD’s LGBT Youth Program Coordinator, Mahoganie Gaston, was filmed telling a parent that a male student would be allowed to participate in girls’ sports if the parent changed the birth certificate of their son to “female.”

She also said that the district “find[s] the loopholes in everything” and that she is willing to go to jail for defying Texas law.

The school district published a “LGBTQ+ Resources for Dallas ISD & Surrounding Communities” used to advise children on how to transition genders and recommended specific transgender clinics.

In May 2024, the Dallas Express reported “Gaston co-wrote the document along with a Texas social worker who identifies as transgender and provides reference letters for sex alteration surgeries.”

Similarly, Irving ISD’s Executive Director of Campus Operations, Dr. Reny Lizardo, was filmed informing an alleged parent that a male student could play in women’s sports if the parents changed the male student’s birth certificate to “female.”

According to local reports. Lizardo faced “backlash after a video surfaced showing him allegedly advising an undercover journalist, posing as the parent of a transgender girl, on how to bypass state law to allow a male-born student to compete in girls’ sports.”

The video shows Lizardo asking someone who indicated she was a mother, if she can legally change the gender on her child’s birth certificate so the male child can participate in female sports.

“I don’t know enough about it, is that possible?” Lizardo is heard on the video. “If you can get that done and you turn us a birth certificate that says this gender… that’s the gender we go with.”

Again, in the video, he said,  “It’s not illegal if you don’t get caught, right?”

“Mr. Lizardo was more than happy to coach her on how to circumvent the law,” said Adam Guillette, the president of Accuracy in Media. “Then said, ‘If we get sued, we’ll just say this conversation never happened.'”

“…while the matter continues to be under investigation, the individual identified in the video has tendered his resignation,” the Irving ISD said in a statement regarding Lizardo.

“The idea of school district officials turning their backs on female students and sacrificing the integrity of women’s athletics to advance the radical transgender agenda is disgusting, but that seems to be exactly what occurred here,” said Attorney General Paxton. “Any systematic effort by a school district to sidestep state law and allow biological boys to play in girls’ sports in Texas will be rooted out, and my office will explore all avenues to hold those responsible to account.”

  1. When in doubt, do a DNA check. Have them open their mouths and get a swab of cheek cells. Check for a Y chromosome or a SRY gene (very rarely transposed on the X chromosome). It is quick, easy and maintains the dignity of the students.
