My Sister’s Fascination With Certain Books Explains Why Some People Are Afraid of Her

My little sister, Bobbi loves Christmas. She started out quite normal in the early 1960s, while many of us who were around back then still have plenty of stories to tell of how she started becoming somewhat “alarming” as she approached school age.

While those tales are meant for, perhaps another day, this exposé is in regards to one prominent theory of how she evolved during those times to explain the way she is now.

Recently, I asked our cousins, some of her elementary school classmates. and family friends throughout the years about her.  The general consensus is that Bobbi is a product of the kind of books and literature she read in the 1960s.

At first my parents would read to her, but as time went on, I enjoyed the fascination she expressed when I began to read books for her. Here is a sampling of her favorites:

Disney’s Pollyanna

Today, she doesn’t read much, but she loves to color:

  1. The little full-cheeked girl pushing the stroller on the cover of “Let’s Go to Walmart” actually resembles your sister as a child. Bobbi must have a well-nurtured backbone. My guess is she can give as well as she can take.
