This flu mixture, also known as the Barbara O’Neill Flu Bomb Remedy, is a natural remedy that combines various ingredients to create a powerful healing elixir.

Natural remedies have been used for centuries to treat a variety of ailments, including the common cold and flu. They provide the body with the correct environment to heal as it is meant to heal, without the harsh side effects that come with many pharmaceutical drugs.
Each ingredient in this flu mixture serves a specific purpose in promoting healing within the body.
Garlic is known for its antimicrobial and immune-boosting properties. Ginger and turmeric have anti-inflammatory effects and can aid in reducing symptoms such as coughing and sore throat.

Lemon juice is high in vitamin C, which can help boost the immune system, while honey provides soothing relief for the throat. Eucalyptus oil has been traditionally used for respiratory conditions due to its decongestant properties. Finally, cayenne pepper powder can help clear sinuses and relieve pain by reducing inflammation.
Together, these ingredients create a potent mixture that can help alleviate symptoms and promote faster recovery from the flu.

It is important to note that natural remedies should not be used as a substitute for medical treatment, and consulting with a healthcare provider is always recommended before starting any new treatment regimen.
Ingredients:
- 4 garlic cloves
- 1 teaspoon freshly crushed ginger (or ginger powder as a substitute)
- 1 teaspoon freshly crushed turmeric (or turmeric powder as a substitute)
- Juice of 1 whole lemon
- 1 teaspoon honey (more can be added to taste)
- 1 drop eucalyptus essential oil*
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper powder (start with 1/4 teaspoon and work up to 1 teaspoon if sensitive, will burn but subsides quickly)

Directions:
- Prepare all the ingredients and add them to a pot or teapot.
- Pour 1/2 cup of boiling water over the ingredients and allow to steep for 10-15 minutes.
- Strain the liquid into a glass jar or bottle, pressing the solids to extract as much liquid as possible.
- Store the mixture in the refrigerator. The solids can also be consumed if desired.
Dosage:
Take 1/4 to 1/3 of the final mixture and add it to a half cup of boiling water.
Allow the mixture to cool to a warm temperature before drinking.
The recommended dosage is 3-4 times a day, and the entire amount should be consumed within one day for maximum effectiveness.
If you have a sensitive palate, start with a smaller amount of cayenne pepper powder and gradually increase it as tolerated.
A single dosage may also be taken throughout winter just before bed to keep the immune system strong and to avoid any infection.
Children: Half the suggested dosage.
*Eucalyptus oil can indeed be hazardous when consumed in large quantities. However, the quantity mentioned in Barbara O’Neill’s flu bomb recipe is relatively small, which is why it can be considered safe for most individuals. Although detailed information on this topic may not be easily accessible online, we at Cleverjourneys.com strongly advocate for safe and responsible use of all ingredients. We do not promote the consumption of eucalyptus oil.
If you’re uncomfortable with the idea of consuming it, a safer alternative would be to exclude eucalyptus oil from the internal recipe. Instead, you can place one to two drops in a bowl of hot water and steam your face with a towel draped over your head for a few minutes. This method can still allow you to experience the benefits of eucalyptus without ingesting it.

That sounds good and potent. It reminds me of my friend Jen’s Cold Kickin’ Soup, without all the onion chopping.

Might have to give this one a try. My grandmother, an old Cherokee Shaman always had a natural cure. A poultice plastered to your chest and held in place by rags cured almost everything. She never divulged what the ingredients were, but it burned my skin and penetrated my every organ. Also, a good dose of salts and an elixir she invented usually finished me off. My grandfather, bless his heart, would have rather died than to tell her he was ailing.

Interesting. My maternal great grandmother, born 5 days after Lincoln’s Assassination was Chickasaw-Choctaw healer & did the same. We shared the same bedroom for a spell when I was young. She died in 1965 at age 100.
I’m having trouble being able to reply to your blog, but just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed that Wal-Mart visit one. Personally, I’d rather pick sh*t with the chickens than walk into a Walmart. You solidified my thought. So glad my HEB has a pharmacy.

Not sure why the problem with replying, I’ve had that before, and will check my settings. Yep, HEB is our store for life. My grandmother was close to 100 when she passed. My mother kept her medicine bag for many years.

This sounds like a good recipe to have on hand. Thanks! As a health remedy, my Italian mama would eat raw garlic like it was gumdrops. It reeked through the pores of her skin as if it were being sauteed in her body. 🙂
