Despite Little Election Integrity, Voting is Essential to Save Freedoms

I will never forget the live satellite feeds from Afghanistan when citizens were suddenly allowed to vote for the first time in decades after the United States fought for their liberties.

While holding my breath, hoping no one would be too afraid to appear at the voting stations, citizens began arriving. It was inspiring to see them risking their lives just to vote.

Millions of Afghans, including an unprecedented number of women, turned out to vote in the presidential and local council elections April 5, 2014 despite torrential rain across most of the country and weeks of heightened Taliban violence.

For many Afghans, the act of voting itself was a way to send a message to the Taliban. That message being a resounding “no.”

Women cradling babies, the elderly, and the handicapped stood for hours outside polling stations in the pouring rain, waiting for their turn to send that message.

Voting is a sacred right in the US and a great benefit of being an American. Don’t take your opportunity to vote for granted. It will take every one of us to tell the Deep State New World Order politicians and operatives “No!”

Though not specifically outlined in the United States Constitution, the right to vote was originally defined by the states and was typically a privilege only afforded to white, property-owning, Protestant men.

Over time, several constitutional amendments, including the 15th, 19th, 24th and 26th Amendments, expanded the pool of eligible voters in America.

Amazingly, it has been almost 100 years since women were first allowed to vote in this country, and it’s been just over 55 years since the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson, prohibiting racial discrimination in federal, state and local voting practices.

Of course, there is always room for improvement. But, for anyone who believes their individual vote doesn’t count, we don’t have to look too far back in history to be reminded of the 2020 and 2022 elections where legal votes were cast out while illegal votes were counted.

Also, there is an example of the 2000 election, in which the President of the United States arguably won the election by a difference of merely 537 votes. Yet, astonishingly, in 2012, only 57.5% of eligible voters actually exercised their right to vote.

There are many legal and other important issues at stake in upcoming elections that will affect each of us and our families for many years to come, including, but not limited to, the appointments of some of our next United States Supreme Court Justices. Still, many citizens continue to proclaim they will not partake in their opportunity to exercise their right (and privilege) to vote simply because they believe election integrity is nonexistent or do not like either major political party’s nominee.
