We saw a dog today. I asked the owner, well, the human, what kind of dog he had. It was a Pit Bull Labrador Retriever Mix. He quickly added everyone thinks she’s friendly, but she’s aggressive he said.
We’ve been there, done that. Had the same mix. Just as with his, ours looked like a Lab. Had to constantly caution people to stay away. If we had him on a leash, he was OK around others. But on his own, look out.
He wouldn’t let anyone in the yard unless they were family, or escorted by family, except one of my son’s friends, he wouldn’t let him in the yard even escorted, his friend had to leave. I always wondered what the dog perceived.
After him, we had a Treeing Walker Coonhound Labrador Retriever Mix. She was sweet, but at over 130 lbs, and liked to bark, she wouldn’t hurt a fly, but people perceived her as aggressive, and I felt no need to set most straight.
She made no attempt to harm anyone, when we first moved in, an Inspector from the State for Subsidence Insurance, entered the house. She was blocked in the dining room, due to his visit, but we told him she was not aggressive. He walked over and petted her, with her barking and all. Her bark was for her attention, and it worked, but goodness, it was loud.
We miss them both, equally. Both were great.
