Many of Joe Biden’s donors were revealed the weekend just before the 2020 presidential election in November.
Stewart Bainum Jr., of Choice Hotels donated $2 Million.
Entertainment and media industry donors include director Steven Spielberg and his wife, Kate Capshaw, who together gave $2.5 million. Family Guy creator Seth Macfarlane donated $700,000 and media mogul Jeffrey Katzenberg gave $200,000. Kathryn Murdoch and James Murdoch, son of News Corporation executive chairman Rupert Murdoch, donated $1.1 million.
The elder Murdoch owns such entities as Wall Street Journal, New York Post, HaperCollins publishing and Fox News.
They include hedge fund manager Orin Kramer; LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman; former Commerce secretary Penny Pritzker, Texas trial lawyer Lisa Blue Baron; and veteran Democratic fundraiser Susie Tompkins Buell (founder of Espirit Clothing Co.) of California.
A former Pentagon official Michèle Flournoy, viewed as a potential Defense secretary in a Biden administration; and Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, once considered a potential running mate for Biden before he picked California Sen. Kamala Harris.
The list also includes some of Biden’s former rivals for the Democratic nomination, including California billionaire Tom Steyer, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker and former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
Several governors also raised at least $100,000 for the Biden effort. They include Govs. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, Jared Polis of Colorado and Phil Murphy of New Jersey.
