How is He Connected to Gov. Tim Walz?

Vance Luther Boelter, 57, is at the center of an ongoing criminal case. This case has reshaped conversations around public safety and political violence in the United States.
The shootings that occurred in Minnesota in June 2025 are still moving through the judicial system. Federal and state courts are handling complex proceedings. These proceedings remain unresolved as of today.
During the early morning hours of June 14, 2025, coordinated attacks took place at the homes of two Minnesota lawmakers. The incidents unfolded quietly at first, but the consequences quickly spread across the state.
State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette Hoffman, were shot at their residence and sustained serious injuries. Emergency responders arrived quickly, and both survived after intensive medical care.

Not long after, Minnesota House Democratic Leader Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark Hortman, were shot and killed inside their home.
Within hours of the shootings, authorities identified Vance Boelter as the suspect. Investigators determined that the attacks were targeted rather than random, based on physical evidence and early investigative findings.
Officials confirmed that the suspect used deception to approach the homes, allowing him to bypass initial suspicion.
Minnesota authorities quickly launched a large-scale search operation. Law enforcement conducted coordinated searches using ground units, air surveillance, and digital tracking tools. Residents in multiple counties were advised to remain alert.
It was discovered that in 2019, the office of Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz named Boelter to his Governorās Workforce Development Board.
The governor’s website indicated the board assists in “developing, implementing, and modifying the State plan.”
The website listed Boelter as a “business and industry representative.” His appointment was effective from December 2019 to January 2023, according to a notice.
After nearly two days into the manhunt, officers located and arrested Boelter near Green Isle, Minnesota. He was taken into custody without additional injuries, bringing the manhunt to a close.
Prosecutors pursued charges in both federal and state courts, reflecting the gravity of the alleged crimes.
Letter From Assassin to FBI Director
Prior to being arrested, Boelter wrote this letter to FBI Director Kash Patel:
āDear Kash Patel,
My name is Dr. Vince Luther Boelter Ed.D. I am the shooter at large in Minnesota involved in the [illegible] shootings the morning of Saturday June 13th at approximately 2:30am and 3:30am, in around [unclear] that I will probably be dead by the time you read this letter.
I wanted to share some info with you that you might find interesting. I was trained by U.S. Military people off the books starting in college. I have been on projects since that time in Eastern Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Africa. All in the line of duty what I thought was right and in the best interest of the United States.

Recently I was approached about a project that Tim Walz wanted done, and Keith [unclear] was also aware of the project. Tim wanted me to kill Amy Klobuchar and Tina [unclear]. Tim wants to be a senator and he doesnāt trust [unclear] to retire as planned and this is meant to stay in the last mile with Amy & [unclear] gone. Tim would get one of the open senate seats, and [unclear] was to be VP, and Keith Ellison would be rewarded with a lucrative governing position.
I told Tim I wanted nothing to do with it and that I didnāt call off that plan I would go public. He said he would call it off himself if I didnāt play ball. Then he set up a meeting with me and [unclear] and [unclear] to take care of me when I refused.
They had some people waiting to kill me. I was able to get away by Godās mercy. So I went back a short time later and shot back at [unclear]. You should notice how I didnāt fire me rounds at any police officers and by God I have plenty of opportunity. Ask for the report on how many weapons and ammunition I had with me.
Cops were pulling up right next to me in unmarked vehicles and I had an AK pistol across my lap. And I could have left a pile of cops dead but I did not. Short burst towards law enforcement. You can ask them. Because I snapped the police and chose not to see them hurt. But it may end up my wife and kids next time. I wonāt give them a pass. If you think Iām making this up just get on the phone and tell Tim you have a few questions for him. Then ask Tim Walz if he knows me and see what he says?
If he says he doesnāt know me, or never met me, look in the files and you will see that Tim personally approved me to be on his Governorās workforce. Bridges are the business representatives. He is probably trying to destroy that note but it is public record. Then ask Tim Walz why they kept the shots silent from the media when they first happened. Not a word in the press and I. Why? They needed to get their stories figured out. So everyone was on the same page about what happened.

Tim is probably crapping bricks right now because Iām still at large and he knows what I can disclose and that I know about all the buried skeletons are. So I will be shot on sight you can bet on that. If you want me to turn myself in it need to be directly to you and then I need to be held at a military prison or in the Middle East, or at least on a ship.
These guys have military backgrounds and can get to anybody. I am willing to spill all the beans. I just want my family safe. They had nothing to do with this and are totally innocent. This was a lone person.

Melissa and Mark Hortman, along with their dog Gilbert who was also killed, were honored in a historic ceremony at the Minnesota Capitol. Melissa became the first woman in state history to lie in state there, underscoring the significance of her contributions and leadership. Thousands gathered to pay respects and celebrate the coupleās legacy.
Most recently, Sarah Foster, the 44-year-old daughter of Canadian record producer David Foster, noted on X. She mentioned that Hortman’s death is linked to investigations into alleged fraud in the Somali community in Minnesota.
‘So are we just planning on pretending like her murder isnāt connected to the multi billion fraud scandal just uncovered? Mmmmkay,’ Foster wrote.
Foster wrote the comment alongside a video showing Hortman weeping. She had cast the lone Democratic vote in favor of repealing eligibility for undocumented adults to access MinnesotaCare. This happened just days before she was killed.

Federal Case Overview
Federal prosecutors filed multiple charges related to murder, attempted murder, stalking, and firearms offenses. These charges stem from allegations that the attacks were premeditated and directed at public officials.
The federal case carries the possibility of life-long imprisonment if convictions are secured.
State Case Proceedings
Separately, Minnesota prosecutors filed first-degree premeditated murder charges along with attempted murder counts. State officials confirmed that the state case would proceed independently of the federal prosecution.
Later in 2025, Boelter appeared in federal court and entered a plea of not guilty.
He remains in custody while awaiting further hearings. No trial date has been finalized, and both sides continue preparing for extended litigation.
