How a River in Texas Changed the Way Millions Think About Dinosaurs

In 1994, while walking on my property northwest of Boerne in the Texas Hill Country, I discovered sea shells and fossils along the limestone ground.

The problem for me was why were they up so high?

Our house stood alone. It was high on top of a large hill at 1865 feet above sea level. It was 185 miles away from the shores of the Gulf of America.

Three years later, the Hill Country and southeast through San Antonio, struggled through a major flood. We were stranded a few days as the waters of Upper Cibolo Creek raged into Boerne Lake and beyond.

Not long after, people found dinosaur tracks alongside the creek and spillways. Researchers studied these tracks later. They made casts afterward. These real tracks were covered to protect them from vandalism and human destruction.

The casted tracks are now on display at the Cibolo Nature Trail Park in Boerne.

Cibolo Nature Trail’s Dinosaur Tracks

I eventually learned that most Texas dinosaur tracks are found in limestone. This limestone formed in shallow water at the edges of great waters and the ocean. Can you say ‘Noah’s Ark?’

Limestone is a type of rock created mostly by living things, such as calcareous algae, corals, oysters, and clams. Shells and hard limey stems and fronds were broken into sand-sized grains and even mud-sized particles. The sediment was deposited in the dry or shallow-water environments where dinosaurs roamed.

Storms would blow in and deposit new layers of sediment on top of the dinosaurs’ footprints. The storms buried the prints and preserved them.

The 1952 photograph below shows the excavation of dinosaur footprints. This occurred in the Paluxy River near Glen Rose, Texas. It captures a remarkable moment in paleontological history.

Among the well-preserved dinosaur tracks, which are typically associated with various species such as theropods and sauropods, one particular feature stands out: a large human-like footprint, circled in white.

This anomalous imprint, nestled amongst the dinosaur tracks, has sparked intrigue and debate among scientists and enthusiasts alike.

The discovery of such a footprint in the same layer of rock as dinosaur tracks challenges conventional evolutionist understanding.

It raises questions about their timeline of Earth’s past inhabitants. Mainstream evolutionist scientific consensus attributes these prints to ancient reptiles.

However, I personally tend to be leery of most things mainstream in American academia and Big Media. This includes medicine, vaccines, climate change, critical race theory, reimagined history, evolution, and atheism.

Some evolutionists see human footprints among dinosaur tracks as an example of a natural geological formation resembling a footprint. But, many scientists and Bible scholars believe that humans and dinosaurs coexisted at some point in history. In Genesis, the first book of the Bible, it is stated God created land animals on Day 6. He also created man on the same day.

The Paluxy River site continues to draw visitors. Researchers seek to explore the mysteries of this fascinating fossil bed.

The presence of both dinosaur and human  footprints is intriguing. They are found in close proximity which adds a layer of complexity to the already rich paleontological record of Glen Rose, Texas. This makes it a focal point for ongoing scientific inquiry and speculation.

  1. As a child, dinosaurs are what jumpstarted my interest in science and earth history. This was true with my children, too. They imagined themselves as Paleontologists. This is not so with my grandchildren-and I saved a whole case of toy dinosaurs for them! The Texas fossils you shared are fascinating. 🙂

  2. Glen Rose is close by, and I’ve seen all of those tracks, human and dinosaur. I think the Jurassic Park crap movies have made a joke of our beloved Dinosaurs. Who doesn’t love a cute Raptor and Stegosaurs, or that rascal T. Rex singing about bang that gong? Makes you wonder if that human got away from that Dino, or was he/she a meal?

  3. A whole lot of mysteries HE has left us, i agree we where there when Dinos were around. you talked about sea shells and other fossils you have found, i use to live in Dripping Springs on a 900 acker ranch, and spent lots of time in the woods, and found lots of shell fossils, how did they get there, obviously the whole area was under water at one time, maybe from the Flood, who knows. I am sure The Most High will answer questions we have when we get to Heaven. Curious minds want to know
