Organs That Can Regenerate You May Not Know About Until Now

While the liver is exceptional, other organs also have a degree of regenerative capacity. For example, the lungs can regenerate after damage from smoking, and the skin is constantly regenerating to replace lost cells.

Examples of Regeneration

Skin: The skin is constantly renewing itself, replacing cells that are shed.

Stomach: The lining of the stomach regenerates every few days.

Red Blood Cells: Red blood cells are constantly replaced.

Hippocampal Neurons: New neurons are formed in the hippocampus throughout adulthood.

Heart Muscle: While limited, some cardiac muscle cells are renewed even after a heart attack.

  1. You’re right; I didn’t know the half of this! The kidneys are of special interest, as so many go to dialysis now. The doctors tell people what to stay away from, but I am sure they don’t have a clue about what kinds of foods, etc., would assist in actually restoring lost function, so the need for dialysis is epidemic. The time it takes is a known fact; you never hear that! If restorative nutrition were included in the treatment, imagine how many people would be saved from the hell of being hooked to dialysis.
