Pat Boone and Ann-Margret starred in the 1962 movie “State Fair,” and they reappeared 63 years later, singing together again on May 23, 2025, at the Relevant Center in Elkhorn, Nebraska.

The next day, of this Memorial Day weekend, they rode in a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible for the fifth annual patriot parade put on by Patriotic Productions.
The parade honoring Gold Star families and military veterans took place in Omaha’s Old Market district. Festivities started with a U.S. Air Force flyover at 9:55 a.m. as the parade began at 10 a.m.
More than 100 parade entries included children and adults in period costumes of America’s history and culture, as well as military reenactors, cars, military vehicles, and horses.

For 2025, the Patriotic Productions group focused on remembering soldiers lost in Iraq and Afghanistan and promoting “traditional” American values of self-reliance and personal responsibility.
Gold Star brother of Vietnam Dave Cole and Gold Star father of Iraq Owen Henderson spoke of the loss of PFC Steven Cole and Cpl. Matthew Henderson.
The national Remembering Our Fallen memorial, with photos of over 5,000 post-9/11 military fallen from Iraq and Afghanistan, were at the park from May 23-26. The replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was also at the park near Flanders Field of Flags representing the 1.3 million fallen since America’s beginning. The Great Plains Society of Military Historians had military vehicles on display and Civil War Reenactors were on site.

I hate to admit it, but my strongest memory of Ann Margaret comes from the voiced part she did on the Flintstones cartoon as “Ann Margrock.” I guess that dates me.

That’s an interesting bit of trivia. Funny-and fitting-cartoon name for the Flintstones. 🙂

I don’t mind being dated: I love Ann Margret, and all us young guys had a severe case of the “Hubba-Hubba’s” for her. I enjoyed her turn in the Grumpy Old Men movie. If Elvis had only listened, he would have had a better life with her and likely still be around. Oh yeah, Pats a good dude too.

She will always be my first BIG CRUSH. Thanks again.

That looks like a good celebration, and those two look pretty lively. “They shall still yield fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap, and very green…”Psalm 92.
I’d forgotten all about that Flintstone episode.
