Chuck Norris Tells About His Tough Birth on His 86th Birthday

His Mom Past Away in Nov. 2024

Believe it or not…

My family and I are celebrating my 85th birthday today!

I’m lucky to say that I feel as strong and vigorous as I did when I was 50…

On my birthday, people often send me their favorite “Chuck Norris facts” — I’m sure you’ve seen them, those popular sayings or superhero-like memes about me that have gone viral on the internet.

Interestingly enough, most people assume I’d hate these jokes… but I actually love them and think they’re hilarious.

In fact, after being hounded by publishers for years, I finally gave in and wrote a book called The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book, featuring 101 of my favorite “Chuck Norris facts and stories.”

I had a blast writing it and was smiling the entire time!

And because it’s my birthday, I wanted to share two facts someone created about my birth that still make me laugh:

1. “Chuck Norris was born in a log cabin that he built with his bare hands.”

2. “When Chuck Norris was born, no one cried but the delivery doctor… Never slap Chuck Norris!”

These are both hilarious!

But there’s actually some truth in the fact that strange circumstances surrounded my birth.

You see, I was born by normal delivery…

If you can call seven days of labor and being bluish-purple from prolonged oxygen deprivation “normal.”

Mom and I both almost didn’t make it. But on March 10th, 1940, I weighed in for the first round of life’s big fight at just six pounds, eight ounces.

However, we weren’t out of the clear just yet, and for the next five days of my life, doctors weren’t sure if I was going to live or not.

Luckily for me, I made it!

And here I am, 84 years later, still going strong.

I feel blessed (too blessed to be stressed, am I right?) and treat every day like the unique gift it is.

I have so much to be thankful for, and I’m eternally grateful for my family, friends, and fans around the world who help keep me young.

I believe we were all born with God-given potential to make a difference in this life, and that potential never stops until you do.

Because it’s important to remember that no matter your age, your life is far from over if you don’t want it to be! I think comedian George Burns, who lived to be 100, said it best:

“You can’t help getting older, but you don’t have to get old.”

These are words I live by, and they’re a great way to fight back against the preconceived notion that just because you’re getting older, you have to ramp down your life and do less.

Take it from me — age is just a state of mind over matter…

If you don’t mind it, it doesn’t matter!

Because as far as I’m concerned, at 84 years young, I’m just getting started! That’s what my mom tells me, and she’s almost 103 and still feeling great. (Note: His mother died in November 2024)

My point is, many people let their age hold them back and quit living before they die.

I’m not one of them, and I hope you’re not either!

So, on my 85th birthday, my advice to you is to get out there and keep living!

It doesn’t matter how old you are —

Life is an adventure, so saddle up your horse…

We’ve still got trails to blaze!

Stay ready,

Chuck Norris
