Update: 90 Illegal Aliens Arrested in East Texas: More to Come

Update: Feb. 25, 2025

In one of the largest operations yet, around 90 illegal aliens were arrested in and around Colony Ridge, the largely Hispanic development near Houston.

Border Czar Tom Homan, who joined this operation, said this was part of a large criminal investigation and called this phase one. Among those arrested—- a three-time previously deported criminal illegal alien from El Salvador. ICE says he had a criminal arrest warrant for alleged repeated sexual abuse of a minor.

Update: Feb. 14, 2025. This is 344 pounds of Methamphetamine found Wednesday during a traffic stop, trafficked out of Colony Ridge in Texas. The three suspects are here illegally, and all had been deported on at least 4 other occasions. One was in possession of a firearm.

In an October 2023 letter  to Members of the United States Congress and fellow Texas leadership, Attorney General Paxton noted that a sprawling real estate development northeast of Houston presented major problems.

Colony Ridge

The scheme, centered about 20 miles from Downtown Houston, has drawn in tens of thousands of illegal migrants, as well as cartel activity.

Paxton wrote, “The development appears to be attracting and enabling illegal alien settlement in the state of Texas and distressing neighboring cities and school districts.”

When cash is not an option, Mexican cartels in Texas and other states use Individual Tax Identification Numbers (ITIN) loans as they do not require a Social Security number, job history, or legal residency. Some use owner-to-owner transfer methods to avoid loans but most of the houses in these areas are makeshift shacks.

Last year, Paxton announced his office is  suing the Colony Ridge development in Liberty County for deceptive trade practices, fraud in real estate transactions, and other violations of Texas and federal law.

A months-long investigation by the Office of the Attorney General found that the developer has made numerous false, misleading, and deceptive sales, marketing, and lending practices that enabled their business model.

The settlement is larger than Washington DC and is about  60 square miles in size and home to up to 75,000 people.

“Colony Ridge’s business model is predicated on churning land purchasers through a foreclosure mill,” the lawsuit explains. “Namely, Colony Ridge targets foreign born and Hispanic consumers with limited or no access to credit with promises of cheap, ready to build land and financing without proof of income.”

Additionally, Colony Ridge misrepresents the conditions of the land and community which often does not have the promised infrastructure such as sewer, water, or electricity. Once discovered, these conditions preclude the buyer from making practical use of the land.

Colony Ridge then forecloses on the buyer and repossesses the land before selling the same plots to others who are deceived with the same set of misrepresentations.

Among other things, former employees of Colony Ridge have represented that the company instructed them to avoid selling to customers who could speak English or who did not appear to be of Latino or Hispanic heritage.

The predatory practices of Colony Ridge have led to a foreclosure rate 50 times greater than the 2023 national average.

“Colony Ridge has been flagrantly violating Texas law. The development profited from targeting consumers with fraudulent claims and predatory lending practices” said Attorney General Paxton.

“Their deceptive practices have created unjust and outsized harms. Nearby communities have borne a tremendous cost for the scheme that made Colony Ridge’s developers a fortune.”

● Two local middle schoolers were found dead with bullet wounds in April, 2023.

● In June, 2023, a dog brought a human hand to it’s owner’s home. The body was too decomposed to identify.

● In September, a 16-year-old girl from Honduras was found dead in a ditch wearing her waitress uniform. Police listed “gang overtones” as the motive.

The list of crimes increase as the various cartel gangs from South America and Mexico fight one another within this outlaw community.

  1. There is a place in McKinney that I think was built for this. It is called Luxe of McKinney. A ridiculous smattering of small homes, sprawling across what used to be countryside, all looking relatively the same as each other. They are not luxe. It is an eyesore. 543/Laud Howell Rd.

  2. Your AG is doing a good job. The love of money is the root of all evil. Obviously, these scammers have no fear of God. Do they not fear that one of these people that they scammed might come after them? It just takes one crazy person.

    • Very much so. I’ve been there at least a dozen times and the last few visits left me a bit sad. I haven’t been back since Biden has been in office. Last time was July 3, 2020 & saw Trump on Marine 1 helicopter being taken to airport for his trip to speak at Mount Rushmore on Independence Day.

  3. It is a third world s…hole, just like Mexico, and the state of Texas let it go on for a decade. Better to be near Houston instead of Fort Worth or San Antone. Thanks for reporting on this, Jack. I first learned of this place ten years ago from a friend that lives in Spring. The entire area needs to be bulldozed and reclaimed. And guess what, the Cartels own Texas too.
