Texas AG Sets Record Straight: ‘Gender Transition’ is Not Valid Medical Reason for Students to Take Steroids for UIL Sports

School District Superintendents, Coaches, Teachers & Staff Take Note

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued an opinion detailing that an alleged โ€œgender transitionโ€ is not a valid medical purpose for student-athletes to take steroids and that the University Interscholastic League (โ€œUILโ€) should prohibit students abusing such drugs from competitions.

In response to an expedited opinion request from Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath, Paxton explained that students competing in athletic competitions may not take steroidsโ€“including testosteroneโ€”unless there is a โ€œvalid medical purposeโ€ under the Texas Education Code.

Additionally, claims of undergoing a โ€œgender transitionโ€ in no way fall under the medical exception.

If UIL has valid suspicions that a student is taking banned steroids for any reason, including a purported โ€œgender transition,โ€ the UIL is obligated to investigate that studentโ€™s eligibility. Student-athletes must prove eligibility by a preponderance of the evidence before being allowed to participate in UIL competitions.

โ€œTexas law is designed to protect student-athletes from competing against people taking performance-enhancing drugs under radical โ€˜gender transitionโ€™ theories,โ€ Paxton said.

โ€œIn America, we recognize that there are only two unchangeable gendersโ€”male and female. All schools must uphold their obligations and ensure students have safe and fair competitions.โ€

  1. A young muscle-bound lady who competed in competitions for women (because she was a woman!) took steroids to build her muscle mass. I could smell it reeking from her skin when I walked past her at the gym. She’s dead now.
