What Media & Democrats Don’t Want You to Know About  Unions & Donald Trump

President Donald Trump’s favorability is up five points over last month. According to brand new data from Gallup, Trump’s favorability rating has spiked to its highest in more than four years.

Among independent voters, President Trump has a nine-point edge in favorability — while Kamala is underwater by a whopping 25 points.

● Many recall that on his first Monday as president in 2017, Trump formally withdrew the United States from what union leaders considered a jobs-killing trade deal, the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP).

● Later that same week, labor leaders met in the White House with Trump to discuss his plans for a massive infrastructure-building program that would employ tens of thousands of workers.

● Trump also signed orders that helped revive the Keystone XL and Dakota pipelines—two projects that trade unions have heavily backed but that the Obama administration had refused to approve.

“We believe that President Trump really is going to put America first,” Sean McGarvey, president of North America’s Building Trades Unions said.

Trump consistently pushed his optimistic, pro-growth message to blue-collar union workers and their leaders. They realize more than anyone union workers have always benefit the most when the American economy is shining.

There’s “strong support for mass deportations.” A new poll from Scripps/Ipsos finds a majority of Americans, including 58% of independent voters, support mass deportations of illegal aliens — a key tenant of Trump’s immigration plan. The poll also finds him with a ten-point advantage over Kamala on who will do a better job handling immigration — a top issue for voters.

Another phenomenon is the fact that union members and citizens believe their biggest issue is the economy. Every single poll shows that. Trump even improved his standing in CNN’s poll. His lead on the economy improved from 16 points to 20 points since mid-August.

More Union Members Supporting Trump

Something big was up when The Teamsters’ Union political action committee broke decades of precedent in January 2024 when their leadership voted to approve a $45,000 donation to the Republican National Committee’s convention fund.

Big Media propaganda went into overdrive attempting to scorch the decision, because since 2000, Teamsters donations have been given primarily to Democrats.

Earlier this week, Teamster General President Sean O’Brien a poll they are holding with membership will help determine their official endorsement.

The results:

Close to 60 percent of members who participated in their electronic poll said they supported Donald Trump, compared to only 34 percent who backed Harris. A separate survey conducted via phone similarly had Trump up big: 58 percent to just 31 percent.

“Our members are the union, and their voices and opinions must be at the forefront of everything the Teamsters do,” O’Brien said in a release. “Our final decision around a possible Presidential endorsement will not be made lightly, but you can be sure it will be driven directly by our diverse membership.”

In the end, the Teamsters’ leadership bowed to Big Media and political pressure by deciding not to endorse any candidate.

This is the first time in almost three decades that the International Brotherhood of Teamsters has NOT supported a Democrat.

Behind the trade unions’ dissatisfaction is a simple fact: the modern Democratic Party no longer resembles the one that nurtured the union movement when it was largely composed of blue-collar, private-sector workers.

Today, almost half of all union members are government workers, unsympathetic to the concerns of trade unions and favoring bigger government and more regulation.

Many other union members are nominally private-sector workers employed in industries, such as health care, that government heavily subsidizes.

Of the almost 15 million union members in America, only about 4 million, or about 28 percent, work in blue-collar industries: construction, manufacturing, transportation, and repair and maintenance.

Even typically faithful far-left mainstream media outlets admit this is a humiliating loss for Kamala Harris and Democrats:

  • Politico: “The non-endorsement is a sizable blow for Vice President Kamala Harris”
  • The Washington Post: “A blow to the Democratic Party”
  • The New York Times: “The decision is a blow to Vice President Kamala Harris”
  • Newsweek: “Kamala Harris Is First Democrat in Decades To Not Get Teamsters Endorsement”
  • USA TODAY: “The move is a blow to Harris … the first time the Teamsters has skipped an endorsement in a presidential election since 1996”
  • Axios: “A blow to Democrats”
  • CNN’s Abby Phillip: “It’s a blow to Harris…”
  • CNN’s Brianna Keilar: “This is something that hasn’t happened in decades”
  • Mother Jones: “A win for Trump”
  • NPR: “Prior to this cycle, the Teamsters had endorsed every Democratic presidential nominee since Bill Clinton”
  • The Wall Street Journal: “The first time the powerful union has stayed neutral in nearly three decades”
  • CNN: “Teamsters won’t endorse in presidential race after releasing internal polling showing most members support Trump”
  • The Guardian: “Most of its members backed Donald Trump over Kamala Harris”
  • NBC News: “Teamsters union declines to endorse in presidential election, breaking decades of precedent”
  • CBS News: “The Teamsters have endorsed Democrats since 1996”
  • AP: “Internal polling of its members showed Trump with an advantage over Harris”
  • ABC News: “The Teamsters released polling of union members showing a nearly two-to-one preference for former President Donald Trump”
  • CNBC: “The non-endorsement is a break from the union’s decades long tradition of backing Democratic candidates”
  • Forbes: “…breaking a decades-long streak of endorsing Democratic presidential candidates”

Unions & Worker Organizations Endorsing Trump

Democrats historically have been trade union favorites, but 2024 is turning out to be an exception to the rule:

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), a trade organization with 23,000 members announced they were backing Trump in July.

ABC is one of the biggest campaign contributors in the country and ABC’s decision stems from the Biden/Harris administration’s “anticompetitive, inflationary and divisive policies undermining taxpayer investments in America’s infrastructure,” their statement said.

New York Unions

New York City unions have also turned to Trump this year.

“Just four years ago you could even see that our union, they said to support… Biden,” said and then immediately the week after he got into office and took over, laid off 10,000 of our workers. Some of my brothers,” said Steamfitter Union member Jason Murray.

The Biden-Harris administration “laid them off,” he continued. “The job was gone. They were out working on the pipeline, shut down the pipeline. Now, all these guys that had jobs out there working, trying to… provide for their family, they don’t have a job anymore.”

“The cost of living just going through the roof. Everything,” Murray revealed. “Everything that they promised. They say more work, they say all this, and then all of a sudden, they turn around. All these illegal immigrants coming in.”

“Kathy Hochul, she was trying to give our work away,” he continued. “So it’s like you say, Democrats, you’re here for the working man, yet here you’re trying to give our jobs away to people that don’t even have legal status here yet?”

Steamfitters Local 638 manager Bob Bartels, a lifelong Democrat, sees change on the horizon for the blue-collar vote and why workers are fed up with the Biden-Harris administration’s policies.

His fellow union members “are very agitated. They are living week to week, some of them are not affording their bills, and I think things need to change.”

“I see a wave coming, as a matter of fact, and… nobody that I speak to likes what’s going on in America right now,” Bartels said.

Police & Law Enforcement

Fraternal Order of Police, 355,000 members endorse Trump.

National Association of Police Organizations, 241,000 endorse Trump.

The National Border Patrol Council represents  18,000 Border Patrol agents. They support Trump.

Michigan Police Officers Association, 12,000 strong, endorse Trump.

Other law enforcement unions supporting Trump include:

International Union of Police Associations

Patrolmen Benevolent Association

Auto Workers

The Auto Workers Union are in the same dilemma as the Teamsters. While the heads of the organization generally favor Democrats, a growing majority of members (concerned about their jobs going to foreign countries, growing costs of living, and immigration) will be voting for Trump.

This has developed into a spinoff organization called Auto Workers for Trump

“So, when Trump was in office, I had the best year of my life–business-wise, I actually opened my business in 2020. Currently, I’m struggling to find any work,” said member Brandon Dilucente.

  1. This is such great news. Now, we’ve got to light a fire under pastors to urge their congregations to vote for Trump, to at least say they are going to, and get people off their everlasting fences about how he’s not perfect. I’m working on mine. Remember the black-coated Regiment in the American Revolution? We’d blow the whole thing out of the water, voting with one heart and mind.

  2. Many leaders of unions are corrupted with money and power and don’t really care about or represent the average member. Many of the average members are concerned about their and their country’s economic situation. Many hold conservative values. Why would union leaders endorse candidates that would destroy their industry and put their members out of work? Why would union leaders endorse candidates that have values that the majority of their union members would reject?
