I happened to be off work that day. I had just got back from a quick trip to the store. Janet, my wife, was getting ready for work. When I walked in the house Janet told me a plane had hit the World Trade Center. On TV the news was reporting it was a small plane like a Cessna. Looking at the video I saw the size of the impact site and thought “That wasn’t a Cessna”. Well it wasn’t long we witnessed the 2nd plane hit. I told Janet “we are under attack, the military needs to get planes in the air”! I remember we were both horrified and in shock of what we were witnessing. The United States was being attacked on our own soil. Janet had to leave for work. I sit in front of that TV for 36 straight hours and watched in disbelief what was unfolding. When Janet got home we both cried and prayed for our country, first responders, all the people of NY, flight 93 and the pentagon. That day is burnt into my mind for enternity. It plays in my head like it happened yesterday. I never want to see that happen again to our homeland. 9/11 is a hard leason. Exceptional leaders know you keep this from happening by having a strong functional military. As well as a strong foreign policy. Peace by strength! It works!

9/11 reminds us that who we vote for matters. If want a peaceful world, we have to elect honorable and competent leaders. Otherwise, lots of people die.

I was just lifting the cup of tea to my quadraplegiac client’s lips, when we saw the replay of the first plane hitting the tower. “Terrorists,” I said. “No,” he said. Half an hour later, at home, I turned on the TV I never even watched except with a VCR, and saw the second plane had hit. And for days, that’s all their was, the horror and the grief and the praying for the country.
