Texas Governor Ken Paxton shined more light on the recent statewide election that mainstream media news seemed to ignore:

David Covey is a hero, and I’m proud to have supported him.

If not for Covey’s campaign, many liberal incumbents almost certainly would’ve been re-elected. Instead of spending his massive war chest to protect his deputies in the House, Dade Phelan was forced to spend over $13 million dollars on his own re-election.

Despite outspending Covey 10-1, Phelan lost among Republican voters and only defeated Covey by about 300 votes, with over 1300 Democrats carrying him across the finish line.

How embarrassing.

David Covey is more responsible for the historic primary victories of many Republican challengers than he will ever be given credit for.

Dade Phelan last night said that “HD21 is not for sale” after he purchased it for himself by spending more than has ever been spent on a state legislative seat in the history of America.

Because Dade Phelan had to spend a historic amount defeating Covey, those many millions were not able to be spent on Phelan’s incumbent colleagues, who he allowed to be defeated after they followed his “leadership,” which produced the most liberal session in the history of the Texas House, where government exploded, Republican priorities were killed, Democrats were empowered, conservatives were silenced, and a sham and illegal impeachment that may forever stain the reputation of our great chamber was perpetrated.

I hope every Texas Republican joins me today in thanking David Covey for his role in reforming the Texas House.
