Trump Store Going Strong in Cowboy Capital of the World

Wyatt Forster, the owner of the Trump Store of Bandera, Texas, is seeing an uptick in customers visiting from places as far away as Australia, Germany, Austria, Canada and across the United States.

Located in a strip mall at 670 State Highway 16 South, just as visitors enter the city limits of the “Cowboy Capital of the World” Forster notes that  many of his customers are residents and tourists coming from San Antonio, less than an hour southeast of  Bandera.

They are open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Medina, TX resident Harvey Young said he was “thrilled to meet President Trump.”

Tourists love Bandera, not only because of her authentic western ambience and history, but they see it as a gateway to Garner State and Lost Maples State Parks, the infamous Twisted Sisters motorcycle and vintage car routes, rodeos and trail riding.

Some stay at the half-dozen dude ranches; the Medina River Oaks Courts in Medina (rooms, restaurant,  music and even a butterfly garden) while others book a room in town, where they’re close to the honky-tonks, the shops selling cowboy hats and belt buckles, and the weekly gunfights staged downtown.

A patriot from Pearl, Mississippi who was in San Antonio for a convention, rented a car for the purpose of visiting Bandera’s Trump Store.

“Yes, I’m here because I heard this part of Texas is not only about cowboys, cowgirls, and ranches, but it is ‘Trump Country,’ and I wanted to check out the store,” Rick McCray smiled. “Then I’m going to go eat at the OST (Old Spanish Trail) Restaurant to sit in their John Wayne Room.”

“I heard there were more Trump Trains and parades in 2019 and 2020 than any place in the country,” he said. “So, knowing how close this is to San Antonio, I am staying an extra day to visit here.”

Our favorite restaurant in Bandera is not one of the tourist spots. We enjoy El Vaquero:

There are a wide variety of attractions to see in San Antonio, including museums, The Alamo, and the San Antonio Botanical Garden. Many are within walking distance of the River Walk area, making it a great base to explore from.

The River Walk area is approximately 8 miles from the San Antonio International Airport and can be reached by taxi, Uber/Lyft, or renting a car.

San Antonio is also home to SeaWorld of Texas and Six Flags Over Texas’ own Fiesta Texas amusement park.
