Adios Bud Light, Mexican Modelo Especial, Coors & Miller Lite Are Overtaking Sales

Modelo Especial load goes in to take the extra space formerly used by Bud Light.

Grocery, convenience store and liquor store sales of Bud Light is falling over 25% to less than $293 million so far, or about 8% of all beer sales in those stores.

Modelo Especial sales in those locations jumped 15% to $333.1 million in just May alone, totaling 8.4% of U.S. retail beer sales for the month.

Anheuser-Busch stock has dropped 17% since partnering with Joe Biden’s favorite left-wing transgender activist, Dylan Mulvaney, on April 1.

The massive Bud Light boycott, which Big Media describes as “another right-wing” attempt, continues to impact other Anheuser-Busch brands.

Budweiser sales went down 7.8% in the week ending June 3 and dropped 9.2% in the four weeks ending June 3.

At the same time, sales of rival brands Coors Light and Miller Lite jumped by 24.4% and 21%, respectively, in the four weeks ending June 3, with similar numbers for the week ending June 3.

Budweiser came in at No. 7 last year with $1.83 billion in sales. To date, in 2023, Bud Light and Budweiser are the only top 10 U.S. beers whose sales have dropped.

The bottom line is that Modelo Especial, a Mexican lager, has overtaken Bud Light as the best-selling beer in the US in terms of retail dollar sales.

Bud Light has been the top-selling US beer since 2001, until a massive boycott intensified after their leftist marketing executive Alissa Heinerscheid came out on video trashing the brand for being “fratty” and “out of touch” with consumers. She and another marketing executive later took leaves of absence amid the Mulvaney fallout.

Modelo appears to have the advantage, with sales increasing by double-digit percentages every week. The launch of a new light beer, Modelo Oro, in May is also boosting awareness of the brand.

Bud Light’s US sales slumped 24% the week ending June 3, while Modelo Especial sales were up 12%.

Mexican imports like Modelo and Corona have been the biggest bright spots in the otherwise stagnant US beer market for years.

Modelo is already the top seller in markets like Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, San Antonio, and Phoenix, but it could still see a lot of growth ahead on the East Coast.
