Michigan Senate Tells Secretary of State ‘Every Legal Vote Must Be Counted’

Wednesday afternoon, Michigan Senate President Pro Tempore Aric Nesbitt and his colleagues sent a formal letter to Secretary of State Joyce Benson “in calling for a full, independent audit of the recent election prior to the certification of results.”

“We have seen a number of allegations that range from outright fraud, if true, to terrible mistakes that need to be corrected,” Nesbitt said.

“Citizens deserve to have faith in the integrity of the election process and its outcome,” he continued. “It is our responsibility, as elected public servants, to assure the process’s integrity through transparency and the investigation of allegations of wrongdoing. Every legal vote must count.”
