Fox News Desperate Over Viewership Ratings Exodus

Fox News has resorted to hiring a crisis management team to take over their public relations due to their tanking ratings crisis.

Election night 2020 started out with Fox News hammering the competition with 14.158 million average viewers in prime time. CNN had 9.47 million viewers, with MSNBC coming in third place with 7.661 million viewers.

In what became one of the biggest blunders in news coverage history, the Fox election desk called the state of Arizona to Biden while votes were still being counted.

To millions of viewers, it was the equivalent of cutting to old black and white Lawrence Welk Show reruns in the middle of the fourth quarter of a Superbowl game for football fans.

By the time election night was over, President Trump was only 17,000 votes short of Joe Biden with 70,000 more votes to go.

The impact to the news franchise was traumatic. Just a few days later, that 14 million viewership crashed to only 1.7 million–with the same anchors hosting and the same program.

Wednesday, the day after their royal screwup, the CNN team beat Fox News by about 800,000 viewers. That hadn’t occurred in years.

On the second night, they barely kept pace with MSNBC while losing again to CNN.

To make matters worse, by Wednesday, Newsmax TV led Fox Business and CNBC in all key daytime programs.

By Thursday, it was obvious Fox News was losing viewers almost as fast as Democratic operatives could manufacture and insert fake ballots during the night at corrupt, seedy places in Philadelphia, Detroit, Las Vegas and Phoenix.

On the weekend, there was no doubt Fox was feeling the pain after being dominated by CNN’s 4.2 million viewers on Saturday. MSNBC placed second with 3 million viewers. Fox News came in a distant third with 1.73 million viewers.

When Roger Ailes resigned as CEO of Fox News in 2016, Rupert Murdoch took his spot. Many diehard viewers began to notice an unfavorable change.

Fox became just another Fake News propaganda machine in the eyes of millions.

I quit watching Fox (except for an occasional Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson or Jessie Waters glance in passing at a hotel or restaurant) in March 2019, when  long-time Democrat operative Donna Brazile was hired by them.

In March 2017, Brazile finally admitted she emailed Hillary Clinton debate questions in 2016 ahead of the Presidential Debate with Trump. This was during her role as a CNN commentator.

Even President Trump chimed in.

From May 2020.

“I’m not happy with Fox at all, Trump said. “My base hates what Fox News is doing. … Fox News wants to be politically correct all of a sudden … Roger Ailes would never have let this happen.”

Then he tweeted: “Stop working soooo hard on being politically correct, which will only bring you down, and continue to fight for our Country.”

When former number one website in the world, Drudge Report, plummeted to a 45 percent decline in web traffic in September, former readers were joyful.

For years, millions of loyal readers depended on Matt Drudge to provide quick links that countered Fake News. Mysteriously, Drudge turned against President Trump this year.

Compared to September 2019, when Drudge Report had 2,340,000 unique visitors, this year it was slashed to 1,291,000.

Trump noticed. The president was also aware that commentator/blogger/social media entrepreneur Dan Bongino was gaining ground.

“Congratulations Dan. You, Breitbart and others have decimated the business at Drudge,” President Trump tweeted earlier November. “It’s gone the way of the @NBA, ratings down 70%. People want the TRUTH! Drudge Report sold out, suffered a massive ‘nervous breakdown’. Happening @FoxNews also???”

  1. So, I was not aware of any of this until I read your post. As I do not watch TV, I was more in tune with Google burying Fox articles on my news feed.

I know this is altruistic, but I feel all journalism should be presentation of facts.

    • You shouldn’t even be watching those shows. The only way to hurt Fox News is to completely turn them off & that includes not tuning in to the shows you mentioned. If you must watch them, you can find their full shows on YouTube…. Just don’t watch any videos posted by Fox News.

  2. FOX sold its soul to the devil. I haven’t watched since election night except to peek in on Bret Baier, whom I’ve always liked. Promptly turned him off when I heard Chris Wallace on his panel mocking Senator Cruz. Pity. I’ll miss him.
