Did Cracker Barrel Make a Huge Mistake With Their New Rebranding?

They Have Announced The Sign Stays

Cracker Barrel’s new streamlined logo garnered overwhelming harsh criticism from customers.

By mid-week the company changed their minds.

“We thank our guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel. We said we would listen, and we have. Our new logo is going away and our “Old Timer” will remain,” they released a statement.

“At Cracker Barrel, it’s always been – and always will be – about serving up delicious food, warm welcomes, and the kind of country hospitality that feels like family. As a proud American institution, our 70,000 hardworking employees look forward to welcoming you to our table soon.”

The restaurant chain’s new CEO Julie Felss Masino attempted to rebrand the business. She aimed to reportedly make it look less white and southern. She even scrapped the classic Uncle Herschel from the logo. The result?

The company’s stock took a massive hit. It went down 40%. This downturn wiped out 250 million dollars in value since she took over!

Within a week, they issued this statement:

The southern homestyle restaurant chain with country stores unveiled a simplified logo with the launch of a new menu on Aug. 19.

Social Media responds

Cracker Barrel’s “All the More” campaign spotlights a refreshed restaurant remodel. It highlights “an enhanced brand look and feel.”

“The updated visuals will appear across menus and marketing collateral, including the fifth evolution of the brand’s logo, which is now rooted even more closely to the iconic barrel shape and word mark that started it all,” the company said.

The new logo retains Cracker Barrel’s gold and brown color palette but removes the man, known as Uncle Herschel, who was seated next to a wooden barrel.

While long time customers are firing back against the new logo on social media, their competition appear to be enjoying the changes.

Steak n Shake even posted that “Sometimes, people want to change things just to put their personality on things. At CB, their goal is just to delete the personality altogether. Hence, the elimination of the “old-timer” from the signage. Heritage is what got Cracker Barrel this far, and now the CEO wants to just scrape it all away.”

“At Steak n Shake, we take pride in our history, our families, and American values. All are welcome. We will never market ourselves away from our past in a cheap effort to gain the approval of trend seekers.”

Social media responses appear to concur and continue to ridicule Cracker Barrel’s wokeness.

  1. Restaurants in general have been having a tough time since the Covid years have driven up prices and cloistered able bodied workers at home. If anything, Cracker Barrel could’ve ramped up their country appeal and put their “rebranding” funds into a higher paid staff. 🙂

  2. Reading this, I felt my stomach turn, which is not a good sign of wanting to go eat there. I think woke people are unable to learn by seeing what happens to their fellows who do this sort of thing. I hope the money and boycotting works fast, and someone awake takes the helm. Plus, people’s history in this country must not be erased just to fatten some CEO’s idea of life and progress.

  3. When I travel to the states for my day tripping I always went to Bob Evans they since closed the store a few years back and I’d venture over Cracker Barrel. Love the store. A thought the store to be simple, comforting and not overwhelming in nature.

I laugh at the CEO another Bud Light disaster in the making. Well you get what you deserve than. I see Denny’s disappearing as well another antique restaurant that I loved as well. RIP Cracker Barrel.

  4. Actually, Cracker Barrel had already lost me years ago.

These Leftist corporate clowns seem to be entirely incapable of learning from their massive mistakes. (I strongly suspect it has something to do with demonic possession.) Bud Light, Disney, and now Cracker Barrel. I can scarcely count the number of companies I fully boycott at this point.

This description below is as true as anything else I’ve ever read:

The false religion of Liberalism embodies the profound confusion of the insane, combined with a feral arrogance.
