Favorite Historical Author Honored as Grand Marshal

This is a BIG shout out to our friend Cindy Massey, who was honored as the Grand Marshal of the 58th annual Helotes Cornyval Parade near San Antonio, Texas.ย

On Saturday, March 3, 2025, Massey “followed banner bearers Stella and Kiera as Grand Marshal in a very cool 2022 Corvette Convertible driven by Ben Cox.”

Massey, the Historical Society of Helotes President, served as the Grand Marshal for the โ€œ2025 Wild West Roundup Cornyval Parade.โ€

“A familiar face in our community as a former City of Helotes City Council Member, author of several CLM Books and articles about Helotesโ€™ history, and service on the HSH Board, Cynthiaโ€™s enthusiasm and deep commitment to Helotes continue to make a lasting impact on all of us,” the historical society proudly proclaimed.

In March, Massey was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the “10th Annual Boots & Bling Awards Dinner & Casino Night.”

Massey’s upcoming book, “Well of Deception,”  is a historical murder mystery and is ready for pre-orders! Visit Amazon.com to reserve your copy.

“On the morning of March 14, 1958, breeder Maggie Schneider, the Poultry Queen of Lipan County, is shot and killed while feeding her prize-winning, White Holland turkeys on her farm in south central Texas. Everyone knows who did it, but finding the killer isnโ€™t so easy.”

“The search uncovers a troubled family history of insanity, accidental deaths, and suicides. Was Maggie Schneiderโ€™s murder the result of a tainted bloodline, a family feud gone too far, or something more sinister?”

“Inspired by true events, novelist Cynthia Leal Massey weaves an intricate tale that spans the decades from the Great Depression to the crippling drought of the fifties. This is not a whodunnit. The mystery here is more profound: Why did he do it?”
