Media Hall of Shame Recipient for Dec. 2024 is Kristen Welker

Kristen Welker of NBC’s Meet the Press earns our Media Hall of Shame dishonor for December 2024.

Her very first ever interview with Meet the Press was with Donald Trump in 2023.

“The sit-down may prove to be a ratings boon for the network, and perhaps even further boost Welker’s career, but it failed to cut through the usual low-information bluster of past interviews with the former president,” Los Angeles Times television critic Lorraine Ali blasted Welker at that time.

“Trump was Trump. Legacy media was legacy media,” she continued. “But somewhere in between is the high-stakes story of ratings versus journalistic responsibility and the dangers that dance presents to our democracy.”

From Welker’s May 2024 interview of Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla), Jack Marshall of Ethics Alert noticed she was   “demonstrating that she’s not much of an improvement over her Democratic Party operative predecessor, Chuck Todd.”

When Welker asked Rubio, “Will you accept the election results no matter what happens?

“If Welker were brilliant, which she is obviously not, I would give her credit for a masterful ‘when did you stop beating your wife’ ‘gotcha!’ question,” Marshall wrote. “As it is, I’ll credit her for giving us an invaluable example of how much the mainstream media is committed to enabling an undemocratic Democratic Party.”

Her  Dec. 2024 interview with Trump was not much better.

“Are you going to do that? To go after Joe Biden?” Kristen Welker asked.

“I’m looking to make our country successful. Retribution will be through success,” Donald Trump responded.

Barack Obama promised hope and change, but gave us racial division and hatred, yet the media loved him. Trump promised to make America great again, gave us a stronger, richer nation, yet the media hated him.

Thankfully most of us stayed with the man whose fruits of labor have proven beneficial to America, and are hopeful that this time around even more of his detractors will now recognize the same.

It was NBC again, who was able to snag the coveted first post-election Legacy Media interview of President-Elect Donald Trump. Kristen Welker’s sit-down with the once and future president featured some newsworthy items, but was mostly a showcase for her blatant deceptions.

Trump emphasized bringing down crime and said that the U.S. was “under threat.” He also wanted to improve the country’s reputation.

“I want to treat everybody the same. I want to treat them well,” Trump added.

“But we have to get the criminals out of our country. We have to bring down crime. People have to be able to walk across the street and buy a loaf of bread without being shot. And that’s going to happen. But what I say to them is, I love you, and we’re going to all work together. And we’re going to bring it together. And you know what’s going to bring it together? Success,” he said.

Welker asked Trump about Kash Patel, his choice to lead the FBI, who has spoken about the need to target the “deep state.”

“If they think that somebody was dishonest or crooked or a corrupt politician, I think he probably has an obligation to do it,” Trump said.

“Are you going to direct him to do it?” Welker asked.

“No. Not at all. Not at all,” Trump responded.

She asked about Pam Bondi, his nominee for attorney general, to determine whether to prosecute people such as special counsel Jack Smith, who led the investigations into Trump in recent years.

“I will say this: No, I’m not doing that unless I find something that I think is reasonable, but that’s not going to be my decision,” Trump said. “That’s going to be Pam Bondi’s decision, and, to a different extent, Kash Patel, assuming they’re both there, and I think they’re both going to get approved.”

What about illegal aliens and foreign gangs?

“You have no choice. First of all, they’re costing us a fortune. But we’re starting with the criminals, and we’ve got to do it. And then we’re starting with others, and we’re going to see how it goes,” Trump said.

Journalist Thomas Stevenson mocked Welker on social media.

“Welker attempts ‘journalism’ by forcing Trump to commit to a federal minimum wage level,” he posted on X.

Trump at one point even called out Welker to her face.

“You have such potential. If you could be just, just non-biased. You hurt yourself so badly,” Trump said.

DONALD TRUMP: “And the Venezuelans are the worst in the world. They’re vicious, violent people. And you see what they’ve done in Colorado and other places. They’re taking over- literally taking over apartment complexes and doing it with impunity. They don’t care. They couldn’t- they’re just, I’m telling you- they’re in the real estate business.”

KRISTEN WELKER: “You know the local police say they’re- that is not the case in Colorado.”

TRUMP: “Oh, it’s totally the case. I mean’ they have it on tape.:

WELKER: “You don’t believe the local police?”

TRUMP: “I play it (the video). I used to play it at my rallies every single night. No. It was- they’re breaking into doors, they’re taking over the building.”

WELKER: “But, Sir, you raise the point…:

TRUMP: “And, by the way, the police…”

WELKER: “Yeah.”

TRUMP: “The police are afraid to do anything.:

Martha Raddatz stipulated to three apartment complexes taken over by Tren de Aragua. The exchange proves that facts are secondary to big media’s practice of reflexive fact-checking, even when the facts are not in dispute.

WELKER: “You promised to end birthright citizenship on Day One. Is that still your plan?”

TRUMP: “Yeah, absolutely.”

WELKER: “The 14th Amendment, though, says that, quote, “all persons born in the United States are citizens.” Can you get around the 14th Amendment with an executive action?”

Note that Welker intentonally left out a key phrase in front of millions of viewers. The important phrase was “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States.

TRUMP: “Well, we’re going to have to get a change. We’ll maybe have to go back to the people. But we have to end it. We’re the only country that has it. You know?”

WELKER: “Through an executive action?”

TRUMP: “You know we’re the only country that has it. You know, if somebody sets a foot- just a foot. One foot, you don’t need two. On our land. Congratulations, you are now a citizen of the United States of America! Yes, we’re going to end that, because it’s ridiculous. Do you know…?”

WELKER: “Through executive action?”

TRUMP:  “Well, if we can, through executive action. I was going to do it through executive action but then we had to fix Covid first, to be honest with you. We have to end it.”

  1. A skilled journalist won’t have a rottweiler snarl on her face while conducting an interview. Interrupting and being judgmental is not professional either. Welker unabashedly displayed an eagerness to attack her conservative guests without considering if there’s any merit to their responses. You picked well. 🙂

  2. Leftism is a mental disorder, you can see it in their eyes, they all have the same eyes. Spitting, lashing out, contorted facial expressions, one would think they were possessed by a demon. Her credentials mean nothing, she is a hateful human being that got spanked by Trump on national television.

  3. Why subject yourself to this? Refuse all interviews with these outlets until they hire real unbiased journalists. Don’t have any top administration officials do interviews until that time as well. Use other outlets such as Fox or NEWSMAX.
