1st Update: House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, a Louisiana Republican, confirmed that the stopgap funding measure is dead and that the path forward is unclear.
There are two provisions buried in the CR that Congress is trying to slip by.
A pay increase for members of Congress from $174,000 to $243,000 per year. They take a 39% pay increase while our senior citizens get 2.3%.
Also, members of Congress are receiving an opt out from being required to use Obamacare. In the meantime…

The most foolish and inept thing ever done by Congressional Republicans was allowing our country to hit the debt ceiling in 2025. It was a mistake and is now something that must be addressed.
Meanwhile, Congress is considering a spending bill that would give sweetheart provisions for government censors and for Liz Cheney. The bill would make it easier to hide the records of the corrupt January 6 committee—which accomplished nothing for the American people and hid security failures that happened that day. This bill would also give Congress a pay increase while many Americans are struggling this Christmas.
Increasing the debt ceiling is not great but we’d rather do it on Biden’s watch. If Democrats won’t cooperate on the debt ceiling now, what makes anyone think they would do it in June during our administration? Let’s have this debate now. And we should pass a streamlined spending bill that doesn’t give Chuck Schumer and the Democrats everything they want.
Republicans want to support our farmers, pay for disaster relief, and set our country up for success in 2025. The only way to do that is with a temporary funding bill WITHOUT DEMOCRAT GIVEAWAYS combined with an increase in the debt ceiling. Anything else is a betrayal of our country.
Republicans must GET SMART and TOUGH. If Democrats threaten to shut down the government unless we give them everything they want, then CALL THEIR BLUFF. It is Schumer and Biden who are holding up aid to our farmers and disaster relief.
THIS CHAOS WOULD NOT BE HAPPENING IF WE HAD A REAL PRESIDENT. WE WILL IN 32 DAYS!

It is not a bill, but a continuing resolution drawn up by both sides based on their back & forth negotiations among lesders in both the House & Senate. The various committees, their leaders, & members are just about ALL looking to for the PORK their lobbyists reward them for, the self interest spending that will cause their stocks to go up, etc. Officially much of this original was seeded in a BILL (not a RESOLUTION) by Tom Cole (OK-R), Chuck Edwards (NC-R) but in actuality it is grown & added to & written by a multitude of writers from various committees Appropriations. It is so bad, that this has become an annual Christmas time legislative ritual. Obamacare was passed on a Christmas day by Dems.

There were some other really nasty things in that bill, too! Also, it was massive, way too big for anyone to actually read all the way through. Yikes.
I did have some fun with people on social media chanting, “39% cost of living increase for social security recipients, 2.3% for Congress!” LOL, truth to be told 2.3% for Congress is probably way too generous, but those are the figures they used.

You are correct. This story is so dynamic & fast moving that I could have written pages & pages. I kept it succinct knowing it is going to be a complicated ugly & fast moving mess. The usual suspects (NY Times, CNN, CBS etc will report propaganda against Trump, Vance, Musk, & so on, of course.

Let us pray the country is not toast before Trump is sworn in. If Biden and his ilk can do it, they will. The Repubs in congress and the senate are as crooked as the dems, everybody is getting rich beyound their wildest dreams, thanks to Pelosi showing them how its done. Kill the damn bill and let the govt. shut down, it’s all a game anyway and we pay the price. Good stuff, Jack.

Interesting how Trump is not even president & he has not only stopped the Legislative branch in their tracks, he has caused Canada to fire their immigration & border minister & replaced her with someone who immediately found $909 million to devote to securing the border & help protect the US.

This will not happen again in our lifetime. America has finally had enough. Canada will change along with America, but not Mexico, Trump will have to play tuff with that Marxist gal. I believe there is an invasion on the way.
