In recent years, Americans in public schools, professional sports events, and many other public gatherings do not pray.
However, the very first action, after being elected as the Republican candidate for Speaker of the House, Congressman Mike Johnson of Louisiana invited his fellow representatives in the GOP conference to lower their heads and unite with him in a moment of prayer.

Later, at a press conference, he told the world that, “Democracy is messy sometimes, but it is our system. This conference that you see, this House Republican majority, is united.”
“We’re going to serve the people of this country. We’re going to restore their faith in this Congress, this institution of government,” he continued. “We’re going to restore your trust in what we do here. You’re going to see a new form of government, and we are going to move this quickly.”

“This group here is ready to govern,” Johnson noted. “We’re going to govern well. We’re going to do what’s right by the people, and I believe the people are going to reward that next year. But we have a lot of big priorities ahead of us right now. The world is on fire.”
Leaders who promote unity and values like prayer can have a significant impact on their constituents and the political landscape.
This is a reminder of the diversity and values that make democracies unique. Engaging in discussions about the qualities and actions of leaders is an essential part of the democratic process.
These types of actions and such leadership can make America great again.

Watched his first House Speaker address. I really like him! Very personable and articulate. His enthusiasm is heartwarming and gives me hope that he can bring direction and order to a system that has operated on chaos for too long.
Just hoping that he can stand strong and true to his beliefs as the far left of the Democrats will attempt to bring him down or get him out. As this vote happened behind closed doors, I DO have to wonder what had to be promised or given up to get about 12 of the most liberal of Republicans onboard for a unanimous vote?
On a brighter note, if something happened to FJB and KamelToe before the 2024 election, he would be our interim president. Would definitely be on board for that.

The world is a dark place now. Perhaps he can bring back some civility to the congress, and to the people we elected. I’m not looking for a miracle, just a new beginning.

If you can judge someone by their friends and opponents, he is an excellent choice. I have read that he doesn’t do stock trading and has not enriched himself in his office. I believe that he is a godly and honorable man. We are blessed to have him as speaker. However, time will tell and his job will not be an easy one.

You have heard the phrase: “Telling the truth can be a revolutionary act.”
How about this one: “Praying in the House of Representatives is a revolutionary act.”
