Memes (pronounced MEEMS) are recognized by public relations, advertising, and marketing professionals as an effective form of guerilla marketing to create viral “Buzz.”

They’re seen as cost effective means to spread a message for or against an idea, opinion, service or product rapidly across the Internet. It called “memetic” marketing.
Memes can also be used to create a fad or trendiness.

They first appeared in the 1990s and are now considered, within each subsequent political election, a growing and important visual communications tool.
Memes are especially effective in seeking out fringe voters who normally don’t seek out political information. Memes also reinforce base voter opinion.
Some see it as a simple way to engage others into political debate In a fun way.
In many ways, they’ve become a slap-in-the-face to mainstream media, political correctness police and liberal social engineers.
