“Laura, with all due respect, if it is true that things were handled this way if it is true that Gavin Newsom is the absolute blithering idiot that I believe he is in the way.”
“This isn’t a wake-up call.”
“This is the kind of thing they have tribunals for. Well, they try people and say, you had an oath of office to perform certain duties. When you’re the fire chief, this isn’t a social justice exercise that you’re in charge of.”
“This is you getting water to areas that need water because there are fires in a hundred mile an hour winds burning houses to the ground.”
“We loved our little house, but it means nothing compared to the five people who lost their lives.”

The L.A. firefighting hiring process was hiring just blacks, hispanics, and women for seven years. That’s reverse discrimination which I have always suspected but get shot down for expressing it. Now it’s even worse as female fire chief wants LBGTQ hires rather than qualified, experienced firefighters. Wokeness run amuck.

Arrggg, what a horrible tragedy. I agree, there should be a tribunal to investigate the gross incompetence.
I am not defending Newsom at all, but for decades California has suffered from poor environmental management and political preening placed high above human safety and common sense. Can’t water your lawn, can’t rake your dry kindling up, can’t maintain the forests, can’t harm the tiny smelt, can’t fill the reservoirs, etc, etc

Go DEI and people die. LA is the joke of the nation right now. DEI hires and 9 lesbians running the government agencies. Now let’s see how fast the rich folks that lost their homes become Republicans. This apocalypse was avoidable in so many ways. I lived in California twice and it’s a dry desert brush and trees that catch fire easily. People are not meant to live where they do. There were fires in the hills almost every week, but back then, the fire departments could extinguish them quickly because they had the manpower.

One more comment. I’ve been watching the news all day as it comes out of LA. No one will accept the fact or the blame that the city government screwed up. The mayor dances around all the questions and the fire chief blames everyone else. I feel for the folks that lost everything and can’t afford to stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Folks are still sleeping in tents in NC, so one wonders what will happen to the folks in LA. Will they be sleeping in tents next to homeless druggies? This is the wors possible scenario for California, maybe this will wake the citizens up. Keep digging on this one, Jack.

There’ll have to be a rising in California first. It is astounding how much reality and pain it takes for human beings to wake up and turn to God and truth. California has been insane for a long time now. And in the midst of it stand a few like James Woods, sounding the trumpet. I saw the broadcast with Laura. I have so much respect for him, caring so much, and now this.

Yes, he is articulate indeed. He gave me an autograph when I was visting my movie writer/director son in Hollywood years ago. I was impressed with his genuiness.

It is not just the Governor and the Mayor that are incompetent or don’t care but also the President. There are resources that the federal government can provide. The Forest Service has assets of both trained personnel and equipment. The Angeles National Forest is there so you could justify that. Fire season is over so the people and equipment aren’t needed elsewhere. Fire fighters usually are hired seasonally but they could hire them to fight these fires 🔥. There are military bases nearby that could help at least in the evacuation.
