Just after noon on Tuesday, former singer and Hollywood actor Barbra Streisand attempted to warn her fans on X about “false and misleading narratives” that will “undermine” faith in American democracy.

It turned out that she received less than 2,700 ‘likes’ out of over 264,000 views. In other words only 1.0227272727273% of the people who read her message on X (formerly Twitter) gave her a “Like.”
“The 2020 election demonstrated that actors—both foreign and domestic—remain committed to weaponizing viral false and misleading narratives to undermine confidence in the US electoral system and erode Americans’ faith in our democracy,” Babs blabbed.
“Mis- and disinformation were pervasive throughout the campaign, the election, and its aftermath, spreading across all social platforms,” she continued.
Almost immediately, the notorious “Streisand Effect” erupted.
This references “an unintended consequence of attempts to hide, remove, or censor information, where the effort instead backfires by increasing awareness of that information.”

It was named after Streisand when, in 2003, she tried to suppress the California Coastal Records Project’s photograph of her cliff-top residence in Malibu, California. The photo was taken to document coastal erosion, but inadvertently drew greater attention to her massively elite home.

All hell broke out. Responses were far than what she likely hoped for. In fact, the overwhelming majority of replies put Streisand in her place.

It was Streisand who once proclaimed, “The idea of a liberal media bias is simply a myth. If only it were true, we might have a more human, open-minded, and ultimately effective public debate on the issues facing this country.”

Always loved her voice, until she decided to use it for “her” poor political opinion. Actors have rights to their opinions, but should keep it to themselves. Because most of us don’t care what they think. Babs, you need to be more like Dolly!

Country music musicians really make the Hollywood zombies pop a cork when they twang about the good ole US of A, defending its freedoms, praising God and then getting a kazillion supportive responses. 🙂

I was a fan of Streisand once upon a time. She has been on my list of ‘celebrities who make me cringe’ for many years now – and unfortunately it a pretty long list. Thankfully, the opposite list is also a long one!

I hear you! Many of my youthful bubbles have been popped along the way! Thanks again.

Why on earth would some ‘personality’ think their views are of any importance?

Never understood that…except maybe in a commercial or ad. I loved Ritz Cracker because Andy Griffith did. Lol

It doesn’t matter to me if celebrities air their opinions, as a right, they’ve got as much of one as the rest of us, but that also means they carry much more responsibility for the words they put out there, with so much more influence. Like, when James Woods speaks, it is a very good thing, because it comes from a good heart. When someone like Streisand speaks, obviously twisted words with an intent to deceive, or simply because they see themselves as elevated beyond the lot of common mortals, people catch on. “The Streisand Effect,” a cultural more (?) now.
Remember the article on Phil’s comment on their eyes? Look at the old pictures of Barbara here and then the new ones; tells it all.

Barbra Streisand is an eccentric, to put it politely. She’s very superstitious, has an obsession with the color purple, had her dog cloned twice (I believe), and is self-absorbed and out of touch, like most Hollywood elites. My daughter was invited to her house one Christmas with a group of Christmas carolers. She told me that Streisand sat on a couch and stared at them, never talked to any of them or thanked them. My daughter was disgusted. But Streisand just looks down her nose at everyone because she’s so special.

Sad indeed. Too good to acknowledge Christmas carolers.
