Don McClean Puts Prince Harry in His Place About Dissing Elvis Presley

Bye Bye Miss American Pie singer-songwriter Don McLean recently chastised Prince Harry for putting down Elvis Presley and Graceland.

McLean, who recently released his album American Boys, went after Prince Harry for a comment in his best-selling memoir Spare about America’s very own Rock ‘n Roll King.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, McLean said that Prince Harry doesn’t understand that Elvis is the poor man’s monarch.

In his book, Harry wrote about his visit to Graceland, Elvis’ house in Memphis, Tennessee. He deemed it “dark and claustrophobic.”

The Prince asked, “The King lived here, you say? Really?”‘

“The King’s interior designer must have been on acid,” he continued.

In 2022, while the Baz Luhrmann hit movie “Elvis,” starring Austin Butler in the title role was introducing the legend to a new generation of fans, Harry’s comments sparked outrage among long time Elvis followers.

McLean, tired of the Presley put downs, wrote on X that “”Prince” Harry should shut his mouth about Graceland and Elvis. He is a hot house orchid, a show horse who never did a thing.”

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, McLean explained that the Duke doesn’t quite grasp that Elvis is the poor man’s monarch. “He came from nowhere and his recordings are among the greatest ever made.”

Continuing his denouncement against Harry, he said the Prince had nothing good to say about Elvis’ home as he was comparing it to Buckingham Palace. He even reminded the Duke of Sussex, who recently listed the United States as his primary residence, that he is a guest in America.

“His family were as poor as they could be and Harry criticized Elvis’s home as if he’s comparing it to Buckingham Palace, and that misses the point completely,” McLean stated the obvious. “Here’s a fellow who has been brought up to be mannerly, but you don’t criticize America when you’re living here as our guest…Harry just doesn’t get America.”

McLean’s observations came after Harry changed his primary residence from the UK to America on official documents, which are dated back to June 2023, the same year he and Meghan Markle officially ejected from Frogmore Cottage.

In a previous Good Morning America appearance, Harry was questioned if he was thinking about asking for American citizenship.

The host, Will Reeve, said, “Do you feel American?”

Harry asked, “Do I feel American?” before responding in a single word… “No.” “I don’t know how I feel,” he continued.

The host then asked Harry what was preventing him from obtaining American citizenship.

His response was, “I have no idea,” adding that ” The American citizenship is a thought that has crossed my mind, but certainly not something that is a priority for me right now.”

  2. Yes, Don McClean just said everything that needed to be said on what Harry said. Wonderfully succinct. Harry should shut his mouth, listen, learn, and most of all, find out what he really feels, because he has no idea what he’s doing, and everyone can see it but him.
