American Majority: Wokeness Harms Military Capabilities

Recruiting Difficulties are Seriously Concerning

In 2018, when the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute began performing the annual National Defense Survey, 70% of respondents said they had a “great deal” of trust in the U.S. military. During Joe Biden’s first year in office, that number dropped to 47%.

In September 2022 the Department of Defense (DOD)  announced the creation of a civilian-staffed Diversity and Inclusion committee.

Americans’ faith in the military’s ability “to act in a professional and nonpolitical manner” dropped to 35% in 2022.

In their November 2023 survey, results showed “partisans differ on their reasons for discouraging military service. For Democrats, the primary reasons relate to it being too dangerous and not worth the risks or that they are anti-war. For Republicans, the primary reasons are the current political climate and distrust of politicians or because they view the military as too ‘woke.’”

Matthew Lohmeier, a 2006 graduate of the US Air Force Academy, became a military pilot flying the T-38 and F-15C Eagle fighter jet.

He then cross-trained to space operations, graduated at the top of his class in four USAF schools (he has two master’s degrees), and was promoted early to lieutenant colonel.

Lohmeier served as an aide-de-camp for 4-star General John W. Raymond, who later became the first Chief of Space Operations for the US Space Force.

Gen. Raymond with President Trump

In 2020, he transferred to the Space Force and was placed in command of a space-based missile warning squadron.

While Gen. Raymond retired a year ago, Lohmeier recently tweeted about a base commander:

My former base commander, who is now a general officer and is still in the employ of the Space Force, threatened members of his base with forfeiture of pay if he caught the slightest hint of Trump support during the 2020 presidential election. He unethically and illegally used his office to influence the presidential election at his base by spreading threats intended to create fear. This was in the weeks immediately prior to the election. I was in the meeting with dozens of other leaders at the base.

Why won’t you investigate such overt politicization of the military workplace? Why did you fire me for alleged political partisanship when what I did was try to hold people accountable for destructive political activism?

Then-Lt Gen Stephen Whiting refused to investigate the base commander’s political activism. The U.S. Senate just confirmed Whiting’s fourth star earlier this month.

While the military pretends to try to understand the reasons for it’s plummeting recruitment and retention, the servicemembers, veterans, and parents can given you all the real reasons why.

During the tumultuous year of 2020, Matt became concerned watching the increasing politicization of the military toward an ideology with clear Marxist roots.

He decided to write a book for military service members and others explaining and contrasting this Marxist ideology with the greatness of the American ideal.

The result became a bestselling book, “Irresistible Revolution: Marxism’s Goal of Conquest & the Unmaking of the American Military.”

But there was a price to pay for standing up for what was right and warning about the divisive impact that Marxist-rooted CRT ideology has on the military and its mission.

As a result of the book and speaking about it, he was relieved of his command and separated without a pension.

Today, Lohmeier speaks to Americans about our Nation’s present peril and informs them of actions they can take in defense of liberty.

A May 21, 2021 article from the New York Post explained Lohmeier’s termination:

His “offense”? Speaking the truth about critical race theory’s rapid inroads among America’s armed forces.

The woke left views the military as a crucial ideological battlefield. And much of the brass and civilian leadership at the Pentagon are prepared to fight — on behalf of the woke cause. Lohmeier, it seems, was an early casualty in this ideological offensive, but likely not the last.
