The White House’s current resident’s son, Hunter Biden, has been indicted on three serious criminal charges:
1. Making a false statement in the purchase of a firearm.
2. Possession of a firearm by a person who is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.
3. Making a false statement related to information required to be kept by a federal firearms licensed dealer.
The firearms indictments came from Special Counsel David Weiss on Thursday, September 14, 2023.
The First Son could potentially face prison time.
At this time Weiss’s indictment did not include any Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) or tax violations.
Weiss charged Hunter Biden in the U.S. District Court in Delaware after his deal with Hunter collapsed upon judicial scrutiny.
After the deal collapsed, Weiss announced plans on September 6 to indict Hunter Biden before the end of the month.
Hunter Biden’s previous failed plea deal included tax violations but not FARA violations.
Weiss told the judge about his investigation into Hunter Biden, including an ongoing probe into potential FARA violations, causing the judge to question the agreement that was ultimately nixed.
Two of the indictment charges stem from him completing a form indicating he was not using illegal drugs when he purchased a Colt Cobra revolver in October 2018.
The third count was due to his possession of a firearm while using a narcotic. The indictment says Biden certified on a federally mandated form “that he was not an unlawful user of, and addicted to, any stimulant, narcotic drug, and any other controlled substance, when in fact, as he knew, that statement was false and fictitious.”
