An Actual Online Conversation About Gun Control Enforces the 2nd Amendment

The following conversation took place on October 4, 2024 and simply summarizes the type of civil dialogue Americans should be having to counteract the false narratives and propaganda of mainstream media and leftist ideology.

This is the dialogue from Facebook between Marvin Hepworth, a retired Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force and Caroline Robison, a former licensed marriage, family therapist and counselor.

Marvin Hepworth:

“Taking away people’s rights is not how you make them more free. Guns don’t kill, people kill, some use guns, some use knives, some use cars, some use clubs. But it’s people that kill, not the tool. People have just bought into the, it’s the gun stupid argument. To me it’s more about keeping our rights and keeping us free. If I call the cops because someone is breaking into my house, it takes them at least 15 minutes to get here. It takes me less than a minute to get my gun, lock and load. Then I can wait for the cops…or if the intruder insists, we can talk.”

Caroline Robison:

Obviously you are a smart man and I am not trying to be disrespectful, just trying to understand. Its not about the 2nd amendment or about taking away someone’s rights. They don’t want to take your guns. It is just about safety. Just like they made it a law that you have to wear your seat belt so you don’t die in an accident.

We just want kids to be safe in school and since the common denominator is automatic weapons that seems to be the problem. So make it illegal for people to have these guns and maybe just maybe less kids will die. Or doing something else like making it harder for kids to get these guns. But we have to start from somewhere and do something.

Having a gun for your own protection is fine. But you do not need an automatic weapon to defend your family or your home. Please understand doing something is better than doing nothing. How would you feel if it were one of your kids? Please try and have some empathy. How is owning an automatic weapon more important than kids lives. Please explain this to me.

And please I don’t need an explanation about what makes an automatic. All I know is that kids are dying because of the weapons that they have used to kill teachers and other kids in school shootings. So I get that it is not a simple answer. All I am saying is instead of thoughts and prayers we need some kind of action. Is that too much to ask for?”

The 2nd Amendment to the United States Constitution

Marvin Hepworth:

“Of course you’re wrong. They do want to take our rights. They’ve said as much about spreading misinformation. Then you have to decide what is misinformation. Let’s start with this. Nobody is being killed with automatic rifles in schools. Without a special license, you can’t own an automatic rifle.

They do want to take our guns, they’ve said it many times. Including mandatory buy backs. If all schools had armed security guards, there would be much fewer school shootings. When you make a place gun free, you put those people at risk because people feel they can act with impunity.

When I was a kid in School, kids brought guns to school mounted in their trucks. Nobody got shot, nobody stole the guns. The problem is much deeper than guns.”

Caroline Robison:

“Marvin Hepworth so an AR15 is not an automatic weapon because that is what they have used in the majority of school shootings.

Doesn’t AR stand for automatic rifle? And did you know that it is legal in several states to own fully automatic weapons? That is why we need gun control.

Mike owns a gun but it can’t put out multiple bullets within a certain amount of time making it possible to kill more people in a shorter amount of time. That’s the point. You can own guns for protection and hunting but individuals do not need a gun that can obliterate a person or an animal in a matter of seconds. Please educate me on AR15s.”

Marvin Hepworth:

“Caroline Robison Ask Mike. No an ar-15 is not an automatic rifle, it is a semi-automatic rifle. There’s a difference. AR. Stands for Armalite Rifle, the name of the original manufacturer, which began building them in the fifties.

Automatic weapons can be owned in most states, but you have to get a special license and buy it from a licensed dealer whose specially licensed to sell them. The license Is very expensive and requires a very thorough background check.

Ar-15s as they’re being sold today are scary looking but no different than when they first began being made in the fifties.”

Caroline Robison:

“Marvin Hepworth so what is a reliable source I can go to to learn more about automatic weapons versus semiautomatic weapons? And I am being serious not sarcastic. I want to be more educated so I can be factual about guns and to know what I am talking about instead of being ignorant of certain facts.”

Marvin Hepworth:

“Caroline Robison the national rifle association has been teaching people about guns since before WW2. Begin there, but any gun magazine can explain the differences.”

Caroline Robison:

Marvin Hepworth Ok. Thank you.

  1. If they really wanted to overturn the First and Second Amendments, they would go through the legitimate and legal process. But they know the majority of people would reject them, so they try to be sneaky and lie.
