Another Black Democrat Politician Changes to Republican Party

Georgia state Rep. Mesha Mainor, a lifelong democrat who worked with congressman John Lewis, has been fighting to help the black community.  She announced that she will be leaving the Democrat party and becoming a Republican.

“I am encouraging more Black Americans and Black Democrats in particular – you might have this coat on, but I suggest you look at the lining. See what’s on the inside,” she said.

When asked about pushback from democrats she said “The most dangerous thing to the Democrat Party is a black person with a mind of their own. So, it wouldn’t surprise me.”

Her decision came after recent bills where she supported school choice for underprivileged children and was against defunding the police.  She says she was crucified by democrats for standing up for Black people.

She says she’s relieved to finally be embraced by a party that doesn’t mind a black woman having a mind of her own.  Her focus will now be on increasing the Republican majority in Georgia.

Mainor’s move gives Republicans a 102-78 edge in the House.

At a Tuesday news conference outside the Georgia Capitol Mainor said Democrats had “relentlessly tried to sabotage every single thing that I have done for District 56” and “publicly slandered me in every way imaginable.”

“I thought it was OK to not agree with those things as a Democrat. But they told me, ‘You know what, those are values we just don’t have,’” Mainor noted.

RINOS Raffensperger and Kemp

Time will tell if Mainor will be just another RINO like Governor Brian Kemp and Attorney General Brad Raffensperger.
