Touring Band Will Feature Their New Version of Elvis Presley’s Romantic Hit

“Can’t Help Falling in Love With You,” by Elvis Presley was released for and featured in his 1961 motion picture, “Blue Hawaii.”

To millions of Presley fans, they remembered it as the last song he sang during his 1970s live performances.

“It was the song that queued his security and fans to prepare for his departure from the stage,” said Houston’s Janet Beasley, a self described “die-hard fan of Elvis going back as far as 1956.”

Carol Nowell, from Wichita Falls, Texas, who, as a young girl, would scream into her pillow, listening to the recorded voice of her idol, counts the song as one of her many favorites.

Nowell grew up to see Elvis perform numerous times (especially in Las Vegas) and can count herself as one of the lucky women who received not only numerous kisses, but an autographed letter from him.

Recently, the group Lake Street Dive announced a fall leg of their Gather Round Sounds Tour.  They featured a cover of Elvis Presley’s ā€œCan’t Help Falling In Loveā€ with Monica Martin.

The song has been so well received that Martin will join them for three weeks on the road spanning October through November 17.

The Fall 2023 Gather Round Sounds tour dates focus on the Southeast and Midwest. They begin in Memphis at Presley’s hometown for Mempho Fest at the Botanical Center. Other performances include Durham, Virginia Beach, Orlando, Louisville, Detroit, Kansas City, Dallas and 12 other cities.

Formed in 2004 by a group of students at Boston’s New England Conservatory of Music, Lake Street Dive started out as a country act before settling on the jazz-inspired soul pop they’re known for today.

They self-released their 2006 debut album In This Episode… with the winnings they took home from the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, self-releasing sophomore album Promises, Promises the following year.

In 2010, they signed with Signature Sounds Recordings for their self-titled third album, a strong collection of songs that hinted at the heaps of praise their sixth album Bad Self Portraits would receive upon its early 2014 release.

Elvis Presley’s version is ranked among the greatest songs of all time by Rolling Stone magazine, at #403.
