Rapper Dies Suddenly During Juneteenth Performance in Texas

“Sittin’ Sidewayz” singer Milton Powell, 45, who went by the stage name Big Pokey, was performing during a Juneteenth-themed show at the Pour09 Bar in Beaumont, Texas when he suddenly fell over.

The Houston rapper died after his collapse.

The City of Houston and I extend our prayers and condolences to our own Screwed Up Click legendary rapper #BigPokey family and friends.

Though many called him “low key”, his presence was larger than life in helping to catapult our hip hop scene nationally.
