Citizens are rightfully angry about the rolling electrical blackouts that are effecting millions of Texans during the freezing weather of February 2021.

While many are upset with their local energy providers, ERCOT, state politicians, and even frozen wind turbines, their time could be better spent focusing on the Biden Administration.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott talked about that subject with Biden on the phone on Tuesday and is hopeful Texans will get FEMA help with their broken plumbing and damages.

The White House knows that Texas energy is unique in that it is the only state (of the contiguous 48 states) with its own stand-alone electricity grid.

It is one of the three main grids in the U.S.:

1. Eastern Interconnection

2. Western Interconnection

3. Texas Interconnection.

The Texas Interconnection, which covers 213 of the 254 Texas counties, is managed by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, or ERCOT. Portions of Texas near the state’s borders are covered by the eastern and western grids.

Texas both produces and consumes more electricity than any other state. Texas’ abundant natural resources, including natural gas, coal, and wind, are readily available to fuel our power plants.

Obviously, the operatives of the Biden Administration don’t like it. Just as the White House is using retaliatory tactics against travel to and from Florida (remember President Trump lives there), their energy stance with Texas appears to be strict and vindictive.

Texas produces more electricity than it consumes and maintains a buffer referred to as the “state’s reserve margin.” This helps ensure that the Lone Star State doesn’t suffer from rolling blackouts like California.

While Gov. Abbott has concerns about White House responses, he is quite upset with ERCOT and yesterday declared their reform as an emergency item this legislative session.

In declaring this item an emergency, the Governor is calling on the legislature to investigate ERCOT and ensure Texans never again experience power outages on the scale they have seen over the past several days.

“The Electric Reliability Council of Texas has been anything but reliable over the past 48 hours,” Governor Abbott said. “Far too many Texans are without power and heat for their homes as our state faces freezing temperatures and severe winter weather. This is unacceptable.”

“Reviewing the preparations and decisions by ERCOT is an emergency item so we can get a full picture of what caused this problem and find long-term solutions. I thank my partners in the House and Senate for acting quickly on this challenge, and I will work with them to enhance Texas’ electric grid and ensure that our state never experiences power outages like this again.”

“In anticipation of this unprecedented power demand, Texas could have maxed out power generation,” a Feb. 16, 2021 release from the Texas Nationalist Movement stated. “However, we couldn’t. Like a lowly beggar, Texas had to first ask for permission from the federal government to generate enough power to keep our people warm. Why? Because cranking up our power plants to full production might violate federal pollution limits.”

This could backfire on Biden and Harris as the real reason Texas is dealing with rolling blackouts ads fuel to the fire for the growing number of citizens in favor of secession and the Texit movement.

To obtain federal help, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott declared a state of disaster on Feb. 12 for all 254 Texas counties.

The governor was accustomed to help from President Donald J. Trump (as with Hurricane Harvey), but this time it was due to severe weather posing an “imminent threat of widespread and severe property damage, injury, and loss of life due to prolonged
freezing temperatures, heavy snow, and freezing rain statewide.”

Biden’s Acting Secretary of Energy David Huizenga, signed an order for Texas on Feb. 14, 2021.

“ERCOT has been alerted that numerous generation units will be unable to operate at full
capacity without violating federal air quality or other permit limitations,” the order noted.

ERCOT responded by requesting that the Federal Government issue an order immediately, effective February 14, 2021 through February 19, 2021, authorizing “the provision of additional energy from
all generation units subject to emissions or other permit limits” in Texas.

Part of the Biden Administration order included that when ERCOT was “expected to be unable, to produce at its maximum output due to an emission or effluent limit in any federal environmental permit, ERCOT shall ensure that such Specified Resource is only allowed to exceed any such limit during a period for which ERCOT has declared an Energy Emergency Alert (EEA).

“All entities must comply with environmental requirements to the maximum extent necessary to operate consistent with the emergency conditions. This Order does not
provide relief from an entity’s obligations to purchase allowances for emissions that occur during the emergency condition or to use other geographic or temporal flexibilities
available to generators.”

Huizenga, who was the number three official at the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), was sworn in on Inaguration Day, January 20, 2021 as acting Secretary of Energy until the Senate confirms Biden’s nominee for the post, former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D).
